  • Worst instructions ever!!
I love James Bond and so does my dad, so I got him this game as a Christmas gift for us all to play during the holidays. However, when we opened the game, what should have been a simple process took us about 3 hours to learn how to play. Even then, I had to look up some of the information on YouTube to feel like I really understood what the instructions were going for. The instruction manual is confusing, not super linear, and leaves out some information completely about symbols and meanigs in the game. Once we got down to it, it felt like a mix of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Risk, which should have been super cool, but because it took so long to learn we had to budget "learning time" in to teach the rest of the family how to play the game. It was definitely a frustrating expreince overall. I think the game itself is neat, but it could use some polish and refining for the rules and teaching. ... show more

  • The only thing holding this game down is the terrible instructions, but there is a fix
There is a place online called Board Game Geek. They have sections with user comments... these is needed fill in gaps and misprint information and round out the questionable instructions. Unless you are a hardcore board-gamer... and like deciding on house-rules... or like being confused paging back and forth in the manual.... do yourself a favor and print the page and a half of clarifications and gap fill-ins. You want the unofficial page named 'SPECTRE Rules Clarifications in One Convenient Place' The game itself is a novel take on worker placement and resource management as you try to out Bond-villain your "fellow" members of crime group Spectre. The Bond callouts will make your Bond fans happy. The game functions are unique enough to make your board game fans happy. Take rounds placing your two main colored Spectre plastic stand-ups in the various Bond-location spaces. Fill them with little henchmen cubes. Get resources to pay for your Villain board's special abilities and use them to get majority in the Bond locations so that your can advance your Spectre ranking in order to win. Roll bond dice to move 007's poker chip around the table and see how he foils all of you. The mechanic of special ability based on your Number... Number One, Number 2... just like Blofeld and friends.... is neat because you get an ability based on your number, which changes as you best or get passed up by your friends. This is alongside your villain board, no two are alike. Keeps things fun! Its good, if you can get over the 89% manual that needed another 11% of polishing. That's the minus a star. Again, mitigate that with the 5 minutes of reasearch online to get yourself the 11% that's a printing away from your computer printer. ... show more

  • Difficult to understand
Not a straight forward playing game. Not the fault of the seller....speed to ship and receive and packaging were great, it is the game itself that is the problem.

  • Hard to learn but fun to play after mastering the rules.
