    • Big disappointment
I used to like a lot the Speck Presidio case that I used with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10. This new model is different. First of all, the color has nothing to do with the picture that appears on Amazon's page. It is darker, more grayish, subdued. Blah. The back now is a fingerprint magnet. In the previous version, the ribs were black and rubberized. Now, they are made out of the same material and are not as grippy as they used to be. This is not an evolution, it is a downgrade. As far as the protection is concerned, I feel that the lips around the screen are raised enough to offer some decent protection. The corners look nicely shock-absorbent. But in the back, the huge Galaxy S21 Ultra camera module is almost flush with the lips, and far from being nicely protected. Terrible. So yes, I am extremely disappointed, I feel that Speck has gone a big step backward instead of improving an already nicely designed product. I'm considering that I should return it. ... show more

I had the original Presidio case on my Galaxy s8 for over 3 years and it was fantastic. I dropped the phone 100x or more and it always protected it. I recently upgraded to the s21 Ultra and at first bought a different brand case, because I wanted a bright color. Wasn't happy I only had black, gray or blue to choose from with the Presidio2. Well the other case was too bulky, so I came back to this one. Love that they kept it slim! Seems like they changed the material of the grippy parts. They are more smooth & slick than the original. Not a big fan of that. But overall I love the case. Just really wish they offered more colors. The blue is more navy, and I like the color.. but I know I'll run into issues with finding it in my purse because it's dark. Come on Speck, can the girls get a purple or pink option?? I'd even love the Robin color like my previous case! ... show more

I have had this on my S21 Ultra and have dropped it a few times from about 4 feet high and the phone still functions perfectly; screen still in one piece - no radial cracks, not a scratch. I have dropped the phone on one corner, on one side, it hit the cement sidewalk and bounced once while on a late night bicycle ride; DAMN THING IS AWESOME! ... show more

"Look how they massacred my boy" - Godfather Because that was literally my first thought when I opened the box. No longer was it the grippy rubber kind. No longer is it the super slim yet protective case it once was. The new "update" to this case is a bummer. The camera protection was null. Its the same depth as the camera... So like no protection. Screen lift isn't as it was with the older model. Also this is like a dark blue. The pic is SO not accurate Sucks but I now had to find a different case. I've been using the Speck Grip cases since I had a Samsung S3 :( ... show more

I first purchased the Caseology Parallax bc I had a Samsung Galaxy S10+ version that I loved with good grip, but the S21 Ultra version was too slippery. I turned my attention to Speck because I've seen their previous versions with a hard shell and super grippy ridges. I was kind of reserved with the new Speck design, but after using it for a few months, I've come to like it a lot. The texture is grippy enough and the ridges provide good traction. My test is if I can prop the phone up with one hand on the bed sheets without it slipping. It passed! With it all being one piece, the case is easier to clean without gunk getting stuck in the ridges. The smoother texture also allows me to slip the phone in and out of pockets without struggling. And though a lot of people are disappointed with the darker navy color, I prefer it! Wish it also came in more colors like a burgundy. Change can be hard, but after giving the case a chance, I can see the benefits of the design change. ... show more

This is my first ever Speck case so I can't compare to previous versions of the case from personal experience. - COLOR: As mentioned in many reviews, the Coastal Blue color is actually much more muted than it looks like on the first picture, closer to a slate blue than the lavender blue they're showing. After reading the reviews, I can't say I was surprised but to be fair, most of the cases I was interested in offered only very boring colors such as black, grey or navy! In comparison, this slate blue doesn't look so bad. Here's a thought though: if the manufacturer feels the need to tweak the color to appear brighter (and maybe appeal to more female customers), why not really manufacture and offer the color you are trying to sell? - My rating: 7/10 - BULK/WEIGHT: The phone itself is rather big and heavy. I feel that the case achieves the right balance between not adding too much bulk and weight to an already big phone while still providing adequate protection. - My rating: 10/10 - GRIP: As abundantly mentioned in other reviews, the ridges are now just molded into the same rigid plastic the case is made of. These soft ridges offer a decent grip, much better than a lot of cases out there with no ridges. However, I feel that the rubberized ridges of the previous versions of this case would have offered a much better, more comfortable grip. Some reviewers mentioned that the new slicker ridges make it easier to slip the phone in and out of a pocket but in my opinion the phone is too big and bulky to be slipped into a pocket anyway. Maybe the manufacturer could offer both versions and let the customers choose? I would definitely prefer the rubberized ridges. - My rating: 6/10 - BEZEL: There is a bezel or lip around both the screen in the front and the sizable camera lens area in the back. The one in the front, although minimal, should be sufficient especially when combined with a good screen protector. The one in the back however is lacking, as the raised edge around the lens only rises about 1mm above it. This is due to the fact that the cameras are not flush on the phone but stick out of the phone quite a bit. To offer better protection, the bezel around the camera lens area would need to be raised some more and stick out of the cover, which the manufacturer might have been reluctant to do. Wrong decision in my opinion. - My rating: 6/10 Overall, I'd say that the cover could be improved but it is still a very good cover that offers a very good protection without adding too much bulk. ... show more
