It does an alright job of flattening my stomach area for my bridesmaid dress. HOWEVER. it is making my butt look like a busted fan of biscuits. you can definitely see the panty lines because my booty is trying to escape from the bottom and it’s all misshapen. i clearly need a thong version of this because i do not want to flatten the backside, only the front side. i’m either going to forgo the whole operation, or wrestle the fabric to where it’s not restricting my greatest asset. mixed feelings about this! ... show more

My abdomen has always had a "pooch" -- at age 2, my appendix ruptured, and my life was saved, but the emergency surgery incision got infected or something at the very top, and left an indent in my abdomen, a couple inches below and about 3 inches to the right of my navel. Even when I weighed 90 pounds (I'm 5'4") and my hip bones stuck out, that pooch was still there. As I've aged, it's gotten worse. I've always hated that dang thing. But I recently discovered this little Spanx, and the pooch disappears! It smooths my entire torso, too. The only downside was, the first time I wore it was under a dress that had a tied belt at the waist. It was a bit of a battle in the restroom, the first time I had to use the facilities, to get the belt untied and hike the dress up far enough to access the top of the Spanx, which came right up to the base of my bra. But, where there's a will (and a pooch!), there's a way, and I got the job done. The size Small fits perfectly. ... show more

    • Painful, and Troublesome After Surgery

My surgeon recommended Spanx for compression after surgery. It took a bit to get the garment on, and once on that’s when I started noticing things. I got an XL, based on my size. The garment is actually painful to wear. It squeezes tighter than the XL compression garment I came home in after surgery. The top rolls down every time I sit down. Super annoying. Going to the bathroom is a timely ordeal now. Once I get the garment down, it’s all rolled up! Getting it back up after using the bathroom takes almost 4 mins to get it unrolled, pulled back up, and positioned correctly. Sitting while wearing the garment is comfortable for about 5 mins, then it feels like it’s pinching my bruised areas so badly. I’m not sure I would recommend these. I love Spanx shape wear with the right outfit, but nearly all of their pieces roll down in spite of the silicone. In this case this one rolls down right at the rib cage. It needs more silicone, or perhaps some boning to help it stay up I would also recommend that they include on all pieces of shapewear ( this one did not) a hole that you can pee out of so you don’t have to fight to get out of the garment and then fight to get back in when you’re out and about. ... show more
