  • Stopped working after 18months; customer support is atrocious; don't buy Fony err. Sony.
I had the Smart Band 1. After about 18 months, the BT stopped connecting. Well, I wanted a heart-rate monitor, so I just purchased a SB2. And last week, after 18 months, the BT suddenly (as if on schedule) stopped working. I tried ALL of the usual and Sony recommended tricks to fix it; none worked. I tried to chat with Sony Cust. Service. One tech told me, your warranty is over; SOL dude. I chatted up again. I got Katrina B. She refused to answer my simple question "How do you [put] it into manual BT connect mode versus NFC?" (for I was thinking that it might be an NFC problem...later realized that it was NOT; the NFC -> play store app page came up as it should have, the phone app launched when I hit touched the band to my phone, but it refused to connect to the BT; and I tried several different NFC enabled phones)." AND then she HUNG UP ON ME ! I've worked customer service before. If you refuse to help a customer; blame your _own_ inability to solve the problem on the customer, and then HANG UP !; well you deserved to be fired on the spot. Something tells me that Sony couldn't care less. And it seems strangely like it is planned to fail after 18 months. So, silly me, I tried chatting again. And I got Katrina B. again. And she kept on blaming me of asking her too many questions when I simply said: Here's a snippet: Katrina B. 06:14:36 pm Since the problem started recently, have you tried to follow the instructions in our website to do the pairing process from the beginning? http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/smartband2/userguide/function-overview/ me 06:15:14 pm Can YOU please read that for me??? I want YOU to explain to me what I am missing. Because I told you already that when I read it, I couldn't find the place where it explains how to force manual BT mode. .... Katrina B. 06:22:16 pm That's the problem, I'm trying to guide the chat but you're not allowing me to. ... That's the old blame it on the customer trick. That's enough for me. Don't answer 1 single simple question, blame the customer, hang up on the customer, and then blame the customer again. That gal needs to be FIRED. Anyhow SONY, your phones are too expensive and your other stuff is not supported. I am NEVER buying your stuff again if I can help it. ... show more

  • OUT-DATED. no support. New-old stock
STILL GOOD FOR REAL TIME HEART RATE. nothing else, if time/date issue can't be fixed. (NEW SOFTWARE PROBLEM as of July 2021 = Logs today's info as 2013 = NOT TODAY'S dates) bought newer device with hopes of working properly. battery life 45 minutes charge (36 hours logging @ less detailed HR, every 10 minutes logged) (12 hours @ detailed HR, each minute intervals LOGGED) (30 minutes charge will last 9-24 hours. NOT a full charge) Features are decent (alarm, find phone, out of distance, remote @ music/call-answer) Lifelong APP has gone downhill. Lesser features. Less accurate. (NOW —2021— time/date has reverted back to 2013) NOT WORTH USING. End of life, no updates... Smartband APP no longer supported (since 2019, Android 10-newer) (trying new device if it fixes TIME/DATE problem) SONY'S WARRANTY isn't helpful. (they trashed all documents when they updated website... Can't provide tech support. Also too old can't fix/replace/repair) IF SAME ISSUES. WILL RETURN. = OUT-DATED no longer supported ... show more

  • A great fit for me.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this activity band. I personally like the fact there is no screen. It looks like a silicone band. I like the plainness of that because I already have a Casio G-Shock GWM500A watch that I love. So this was a good compromise for what I wanted and needed. The only con to me is that the battery life I think could be a bit better. In normal mode I get two days out of it. In the low power mode (stamina) I get 4.5 days. I would love to see this improve if it can with future firmware upgrades. If not it's still a good band. Only takes about 30-45 minutes to charge. So charge in the morning while getting ready for work or something. I really do like that this is waterproof. I looked for a while for a band that was waterproof because I didn't want to have to remember to take it off in the pool or shower all the time. Overall I enjoy this purchase and would still purchase it again. ... show more

  • The fit is a bit too snug which can overwhelm certain users but gets pretty accurate readings
Sony has stepped it up a notch with this heart rate reading bracelet. The fit is a bit too snug which can overwhelm certain users but gets pretty accurate readings. As someone who exercises on a daily basis, I found the stress calculator a bit unrealiable as it measures your pulse swings to come up with meaningful interpretations. This isn't true for a runner for instance where the high heart rate is not an indicative of a high stress level so the algorithm that's used isn't intact. That being said, for an average Joe it shall do the trick. Other than that, it has all the bells and whistles that the smart band 1 has. I will take away one star to make it a 4 star item for little things that are missing here and there like not being able to differentiate running and walking precisely or things to that effect. ... show more

  • Great if you use lifelog
Having had Sony phones for some time now, I am used to the lifelong app. My XZ Premium died in August 2019 so I installed lifelong on an old S7 as the umidigi a3 was not recording my steps before it inexplicably died. I bought a Blu Vivo X5 but it wasn't recording steps either. The S7 was stolen in December (why steal a phone with a cracked screen) so I needed a way to record my steps with lifelog accurately. This smartband is perfect for that. I also get sleep logging and heart rate monitoring. Setup was a breeze. Download the smartband app, connect the smartband to the phone (it will update the smartband) install lifelong app if it isn't already installed and enjoy ... show more
