This is a lovely set for beginners-- my wife has never played flute before, but she loves to collect all types of instruments and I am happy to oblige her when they are offered to me. We received the silver flute from Sonicake today, and it really is beautiful. My wife's only complaint, and I will say it's not an insignificant one (to her), is that both the fabric-wrapped hard carrying case and the flute say, "Taste it" underneath the Sonicake logo, and she is not a fan. We also received a clarinet from Sonicake that has the same thing on it, and she initially said she might cover it up with a black marker but it is engraved into the instrument, and a black marker certainly wouldn't look very nice on this gorgeous floop. She is just learning to play by following tutorials on YouTube, and besides the floop demanding that she taste it, she is delighted to have this and it seems like it's great quality for a beginner instrument. It has a nice weight to it but isn't too heavy so far. As far as I'm concerned, any instrument designed for beginners in the low $100 range is a good value. In addition to the carrying case it includes everything you need to keep it clean. It does seem to disturb our dog when she attempts to play it, though. I can't speak to the overall sound quality yet because she doesn't know what she's doing and it don't sound great, to be honest, but I don't think that's the flute's fault. Please forgive the laundry in progress on the couch in the photos, we dropped everything to taste the flute. Update: After our 8-year-old got home from school, he became obsessed with this flute. He is very proud of himself, has declared himself the best flute player in the house (and that may be true despite the awful noises he's making with it) and he's been carrying it around with him and talking at length about how cool it is. So, seemingly a great little instrument to get a kid to fall in love with music, because he has only shown vague interest in playing any musical instruments before. I'm just happy he wants to do anything besides play Roblox. 2nd Update: My wife likes to carry the floop around and mime whacking people with it, saying, "I murdered you with a floop!" It is charming, not annoying at all.

I got this SONICAKE flute as a beginner’s instrument and so far it’s been a decent experience. The silver-plated finish looks bright and classy, giving it a nice, clean visual appeal. The keys move smoothly for the most part, and I didn’t notice major sticking or resistance when pressing them. The closed-hole design is good for learners who don’t want to worry about covering open holes precisely all the time. When I first played it, I found that the tone is clear and fairly bright—nothing super rich, but good for practicing and class work. There’s a bit of leakage if you aren’t careful with your embouchure, so technique matters. The package includes helpful extras like a hard case, cleaning rod, and gloves, which give extra value. The instrument feels lightweight and easy to carry, though I’m cautious about how durable it will be over time. If you’re getting into flute playing and want something reliable but not too expensive, this is a solid option. As you improve you might want to upgrade, but for beginners this flute gives you enough performance to grow with.

I admit I'm not very good at this instrument since I just picked it up as a side hobby recently. I do find it relaxing to practice this flute though. When I do manage to hit the right notes, it sounds beautiful and bright. As a beginner, I appreciate the simplicity of assembling it. The pieces slide together easily and they stay in place once there. While the flute is very light weight, every piece and moving part is very responsive. The entire flute is good quality from the keys right down to the dampeners underneath the keys. I do like the shine and shimmer of the metal too. The mouth piece is really easy to clean with some warm soapy water and a dry towel. I think if you're unsure if you really want to learn the flute, this is a good affordable option to experiment with to get a feel for it.
