The swift itself is great, if a little fragile feeling. The problem comes from the clamp that attaches to the table. The clamp only extends about an inch from the base, and even tightened as hard as possible, it just kept slipping, because the clamp just doesn't cover enough space to attach securely. I used an old carpenter's trick and stuck a felt coaster on the underside of the table between the clamp and the wood. This seemed to do the trick nicely and the whole thing feels a lot more secure. ... show more

I just dumped a yarn winder I got at a chain yarn shop. I ordered this one due to the good reviews. It is working perfectly. I just wound this ball of yarn from a skein, and as you can see it is a full 5" in diameter, and has an easily visible loose end coming from the center to pull out as the working yarn. It never tangled while winding nor did the yarn go off track. I was able to turn it very fast. Just be sure to snap the yarn guide arm into its slot on the bottom side of the winder. I like this yarn ball winder. It does exactly what it is meant to do. It's easy to use, easy to install. The ONLY thing I can think of that you need to keep in mind, is to make sure that where you install it, it is sturdy. It has to be a surface that can hold it well and the clamp can hold on tight to it. If you don't make sure of that before you start winding, then you will have a problem.     • Yarn ball winder
I have always wanted a ball winder and I love this. The only problem is making the yarn stay at the top when I start winding the yarn on the spindle. It has slits to put the yarn in, but that doesn't work. It needs a clip or something. So, use a piece of tape to hold the yarn down at the top then start winding. You have to remember to take the tape off before it is pulled up off of the spindle. Other than that, it is great. I recogmend buying the one this size and not a bigger one. The bigger the ball, the more it collapses as the yarn is used. When the ball of yarn is finished, you pull it off of the spindle and then you have a nice ball of center pull yarn. ... show more

This product does the job very well. Get a well rounded ball in a few seconds. Please be very careful with this product. Clamps to table are plastic and can break. My wife loves it and shes happy with it so its worth it.
