I camp every year for a month at a time and keeping my phone charged was my only power need. I stay at unimproved camp areas where there is no power available. I could use my truck to charge devices, but what a waste of gas. This solar panel not only charged my phone, but kept my backup power pack and vehicle jump starter fully charged. Does not have a battery pack. Has to charge either your phone directly or a battery pack. It gets really hot in the sun so if you're trying to charge your phone directly make sure that you have a cool place for your phone to stay.

I decided to take a solar charger on our trip instead of portable battery because I was worried the cold weather was going to drain the portable battery too fast. Plus, I wanted to test the durability and reliability of the solar charger. Four days backpacking through the wilderness and it held up fine. I had it clip to the outside on my backpack (see pic) where it did get banged around a bit but it still function as it should. The fast charger is indeed fast. My phone (Galaxy S10) fast charged in almost same amount as if it was plug into a wall outlet. As long as there's direct sunlight it will charge relatively quickly. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that it's a solar charger and direct sunlight on your devices will cause heating issues. You can keep you phone inside the internal pouch but I found it better to keep it underneath that pouch panel itself. It's thicker and will provide better heat protection. Or, if possible, keep your devices in the shade when charging using a longer cable. Some rough numbers--it charged my phone from 40% to roughly 75% in a littler over 30 mins. At one point I forgot to shield my phone from the sun and it only added 10% power in 20 mins before my phone auto-shutoff the charge to protect itself. Phone was really hot but that was my fault. Comes with DC cable and two small carabiner. Has two USB ports and only one is for fast charging. I like this solar panel a lot. It packs some power for a relatively small and lightweight package. Realistically this panel produces 12 watts via dc. I tested this using two different solar generators, both with mppt controllers. I’m not surprised by this since it’s a three panel solar panel. I researched the manufacture and their version of a 30 w solar panel has more than three panels. This vendor is falsely labeling this panel 30w when it shouldn’t be. As a comparison, I testing this solar panel along with a different 30 w solar panel (sorulykin) that has four panels. The sorulykin produces 18 watts in conditions that the orange solar panel produces 12 watts. With usb a charging, I measured 4 watts going into my usb battery bank, which was similar to what I saw with my necktek 21 w usb solar panel. However, when I used my xtar power bank that is QC compatible, the orange solar panel produced, about 9 watts. Again, I’m not surprised about the performance of this panel, given my experience with these kinds of products. It’s a fun solar panel that will keep your phone charged. The quality of the product itself is very good, no obvious defects. However, the vendor is grossly misleading the performance of the panel. I bought this for my daughter as part of an auto emergency kit before she takes a small road trip to visit her grandparents. She had everything thing else like the battery jump starter, tire inflator, etc. She owns a small power bank to charge her phone, but I wanted something dedicated to stay on the vehicle. This is such a great size to throw into the gear bag, but honestly, it’s small enough to fit in those pockets behind the front seats or the glove compartment. When she needs it, it’s the perfect size for sitting on the dash or the hood of car. She fairly outdoorsy so she may even throw it in a bag for the beach. It’s not much bigger, definitely not any heavier than the power bank she already has. But 30 Watts and the large solar panels will assist for faster charging. ... show more

Recently went camping with this baby and successfully managed to stay in contact with the real world. My annoying phone will last all day at home, but the second I leave my house, it loses power so quickly. Once I was charging it in my car, but I had used up so much of the car battery that I needed and jump (and a new battery). Now, as long as I have access to direct sunlight (which is plentiful where I live), I’ll be able to charge my phone, accessories, tablet, and even some other gadgets I haven’t even thought of, as there is more than just a USB port. All you have to do is unvelcro one end, fold out the panels, and lay them in the sunlight. The power connector in the side pocket has a red light that turns on with enough sun (and you’d be surprised at how minimal light is needed for power). It’s especially useful for camping, as there are metal-reinforced holes with a carabiner attached. It slides easily into any flat space in a backpack or bag and is is light as a couple of magazines. When folded up, this charger can take a beating, as it’s covered in canvas. Even the exposed panels can take scratches and abuse and still remain functional.
