This Kurt’s Pajama doesn’t meet the fabric, work or fit standards ! Low quality kurta : Thin and low quality fabric ! Feels Stiff ! Pajama is cotton and soft ! Feels tight after wearing : not a comfortable fit ! All in all, the sizing of this outfit is off and fabric of kurta feels really cheap !

First, the good. - The cotton/linen blend fabric feels lovely to the touch and has the desi whimsy I was hoping for. - The fabric is nice quality, and feels like it'll hold up well with time. - The colors are rich and striking. - The stitching seemed fine, and all seams were well-sewn with no loose threads. - The fabric arrived starched, as desi kurtas tend to be, and will soften with washing and wear. - The print is really nice, and the fabric has a light sheen to it that I wasn't expecting. The sheen may be due to starch, and I won't care if it goes away with a wash, but it was a nice surprise when I opened the package. - The pockets are nice sized and will easily hold a large cell phone and wallet. - The collar is well-constructed and looks very smart. Now, the not so good: - Based on other reviewers' comments, and despite the size chart, I ordered a 7x, thinking it would be just right for my 3x frame. It was waaayyyy too large. A 4x might've been a better choice. If I decide that I don't want the oversized look, I may put darts in the kurta - an easy fix, since the garment is a straight box cut. - Given this is a cotton/linen blend fabric, I'm hoping for some shrinking after washing. I rather like the oversized look and will wear it regardless. The sleeves roll up easily enough, so their length isn't an issue for me. - Based on my sizing experience, I can't tell if the size chart is off or if the reviewers got a product that was sized very differently from mine. Or, maybe the reviewers didn't pay attention to the size chart. Hard to tell. - The product took a while to arrive (~3 weeks), though it arrived well-packaged. - The product page indicates machine wash, but the product tag says to hand-wash. I'm going to toss it in the machine by itself for the first wash to see if there is any color bleed. If so, I'll plan to wash it solo in the future. I hope the manufacturer takes note of the comments and attends to the sizing and washing issues. If you can get the sizing right, this is a very nice kurta and I look forward to wearing it. ... show more

    • Nice but runs small and has chemical smell

As others have noted, this kurta runs about two sizes too small. I was confused by the sizing at first, since they have both measurements and "X" numbered sizes available as options. I didn't know whether the 48 was smaller or larger than the 4X. Well, it turns out that 48 is the same as 4X and 50 is the same as 5X. This is confirmed by the tag of the garment, since when you receive it it will have both versions listed. The material is a thin, fine, starchy cotton that feels like taffeta. It will rustle a bit when you shake it (although I imagine this will go away when the starch washes out). The weave is very fine and smooth, and you can feel the quality. The only thing I don't like is the minor chemical smell, since this means there were harsh chemicals used in processing--either in the due or in some other additive. As a scientist, it is my opinion that no kind of fashion is worth exposing yourself to these kinds of chemicals to achieve, since your skin is quite good at absorbing what you put on it. ... show more

    • A high quality garment, BUT it runs very small

This kurta by Sojanya is extremely beautiful, and well-made in every way. The kurta has a 3-button traditional collar and placket, and is printed all over with a diamond-shaped, almost lacy-looking geometric design. The cotton-linen blend is very thin, almost transparent, and will be very appreciated when summer comes. I tried this kurta on before I had an unfortunate laundry accident, and I found that it runs VERY small. My husband also made an attempt, but it was much too small for his shoulders, so he was unable to get into it. My husband wears a US 2x t-shirt, 3x dress shirt. I wear a US women's 3x. The kurta I ordered was a men's 4x. So basically, it should have been 2 sizes larger than the t-shirts he usually wears, and a little roomier than his dress shirts, but it didn't even come close to fitting him. Men's US sizes are generally 2 sizes larger than women's sizes, so this should have fit me like a tent, but it didn't; it fit me perfectly. Only the sleeves were too long on me, but roll em up, it's fine. So, this men's 4x is actually a women's 3x. I think I would have needed a 5 or 6x for it to fit my husband the way it's meant to fit, slightly loose. The garment is very thin and nearly transparent, so you will want to wear it as it's meant to be worn, with pants and an undershirt beneath it; otherwise, you'll need a slip. It was very heavily starched or full of sizing when I got it, and had a faint chemical smell. It was very stiff and scratchy, but after a few washes, it will be soft, comfortable, and breathable. Sojanya has been in business since 1958, so they know how to make a good kurta. They just need a little more research into US/European sizes, I think. And now, to the laundry accident :( The kurta has a tag that says "hand-wash only" attached to the size tag in the collar. There isn't another tag with washing instructions inside the garment. I set the kurta aside in the laundry room for future handwashing, and I noticed it disappeared this afternoon. It turned up in the laundry basket this evening; my husband had lovingly machine washed, dried, and folded it. My heart sank: I was sure it was ruined. To my great surprise, it hadn't shrunk at all, and it wasn't even wrinkly. It survived the laundry accident just fine. I do recommend handwashing it as per Sojanya's instructions, because it will last longer and the colors won't fade if you do it the right way. Still, it's good to know that it can survive a laundry accident, unlike a lot of clothes on the market today. This isn't a "wash X2, then you're through" disposable fashion item, it's a high-quality garment that's a good value for the money. Just buy a lot bigger size than you usually would. ... show more
