I bought this for some hanging baskets and went to soak them before lining the baskets and they just fell apart. It was a mess. I lined the baskets with the pieces as best as I could...but the material is the same as the water retaining "moisture beads" which I think would work better as you can get them mixed evenly through the soil where the roots need it most. I think it's the wrong product for the use I chose it for so it's probably not fair to review it until I try it again. I'm using it with coco fiber inserts for hanging baskets and it's really not retaining any water. But the coco fiber inserts are so porous that I think it's drying out far too quickly for the mats to do their job. Had these been plastic hanging containers, it might be totally different. So 3 stars for now. I think the idea is good and given the right type of container it should work fine. Just don't combine it with the coconut fiber inserts for hanging baskets and you'll be fine. ... show more

I live in the south where it is very hot and humid. Today its 90. These water mats work great!! Now i can water every couple of days instead of 2 or3 times aday. My plants are now thriving. Would certainly reccomend them and will purchase more when needed. I love them !!!

I used these mats in my hanging baskets this year, I always pot up with geraniums. It's always been a struggle to keep up with the watering, sometimes twice a day depending on the heat. I used these mats to see how my plant would do. The results were excellent. I watered less and the plants never seems to go wilt even in the full sun heat. They stayed very healthy all Summer and would have kept going but needed to get them down before the cold weather hit. Will use them again next year, really happy I took the chance to try them. ... show more

I have hanging baskets with water reservoirs, but I still add these mats, and my flowers stay beautiful all summer without having to water them everyday. If you have pots without reservoirs, you can't live without these. You also should use Soil Moist crystals in the soil. It makes all the difference in the world. I can even go on vacation and my flowers will be OK. ... show more

I agree with all other reviews. Worked very well in all my hanging baskets all summer and plants did not dry out. I will say that I always repot hanging baskets that I purchase. When you know them out they are already root bound and have very little soil left. That gave me the chance to insert these mats in the new pots. At first I was disappointed because I watered just a little more than normal and the pads didn't seem to help any. Then I tried really soaking the hanging pots good...like watered good 3-4 times in one day before I left them for several days..in the almost 100 degree heat..and they held up great! So these will work if you really soak the pot (which I guess makes sense..you need to get enough water in the pot to soak the dirt AND let the pads absorb as much as they can). Of course I would only do this in a pot with drain holes..soaking that much without drains would not be good. ... show more
