If unit is fully charged, it charges faster and effectively. * A good alternative to highly priced alternative battery/power sources in market for the DashCam. You need a constant power source for DashCam in parking mode as most of the DashCams now-a-days are super-capacitor operated (not battery operated). The battery operated dash cams hold charge for only few minutes of video recording (practically of no use in parking mode-dashcam recording). I am using this solar charger for my dashcam, and the best part is it can discharge-charge at the same time. I have plugged in the dashcam while the solar charger itself is lying on the dashboard under direct sunlight. It works perfect. With no lapse in video recording. I have found this solar charging unit to be quite useful. It performs admirably well when the sun is shining well, however, cold temperatures do not allow your devices to recharge well. Moreover, cloudy weather can retard the speed of the recharge, despite the many panels this unit has. I am not sure whether or not the item we received is defective but after 2 phone charges, there is barely any power left. This is after having fully charging the solar battery. Only the USB-C cable and lightning cable were used so far. The lightning charge does not last longer than 5 seconds whenever a device is connected to it unless there is also a device attached to the USB-C cable which works fine. Hopefully this is an isolated case, or it is simply a faulty charger. This was purchased new, but it would seem we received a refurbished item. ... show more
