This was a good costume for the price, but I did have to modify. Since the shirt is so short in the back, I wore a white tank with thin straps under it. The top kept pulling open in the front as the ribbon up the front was very thin, so I ended up sewing it closed together over the ribbon so it still looked like it was laced up. I wore black leggings underneath the skirt and used a different headpiece. The belt was too big on me, and was pretty much a piece of felt with velcro, but the costume looked good without it. The costume would also look good with any other thick black or brown belt. I got a lot of compliments from my coworkers, and I was able to participate in the theme at work without breaking the bank. ... show more

I bought two of these for my daughter and I to match for an event. She is age 10 and I got her the XS (size 2-4) but she usually wears a youth large. It worked great for her with the exception of extra cinching of the front ties and it was low cut, but with a tank top under it was fine. I got myself a much larger size thinking costumes usually run small. It was the oddest fit because of the design. The skirt was huge and the shirt was really wide and short. It did not look good at all, besides the head scarf. I returned my costume and just got a pirate tee shirt to wear with a black skirt and boots, which looked much better. ... show more

Fit was VERY small so I returned it. Printed out my label, stuck it in the mail…that was over two weeks ago and STILL nothing. So don’t buy unless you’re SURE.

The shirt is short so you will have to pull up the skirt, wear a shirt underneath or show your midriff. I bought this for my ten year old and she fit in the XS She needed a pirate costume for school and I am happy with it for this use.

I ordered a small and it was a good fit for me. Just like most of the other people have mentioned on their reviews- the top is really short in the back so be mindful of that.
