4 Year update. I have had my Smart Backstop for 4 years now. It has been on my boys lacrosse cage ever since the day I received it and it’s been outside every single one of those days. New England has its storms, harsh winters, freezing rains, it’s doesn’t matter, my Smart Backstop has been through it all. Just yesterday a piece on one of the corner brackets broke (this is the ONLY issue I’ve ever had in 4 years). I contacted the manufacturer via email on a Saturday and within a couple hours they emailed me back with a resolution. They told me they would help me rectify the issue and a solution to the fix would be put in the mail on Monday. This type of customer service rarely exists anymore in retail. The folks at Smart Backstop went above and beyond to stand behind their exceptional product. Buy this product with confidence. It will exceed every expectation you have of it. Original review—-I have had this back stop for over 2 years now, and it stays on my kids lacrosse net 365 days a year outside. It even stays out in the winter months during our New England winters. It has held up perfectly and stops even the most wide shots. It’s has been a game changer for not losing balls.     • Best Backyard Backstop (No Question)
I purchased my first Smart Backstop years ago and it has been the BEST investment in lacrosse equipment I've made. Seriously, I know it's just a backstop...but it works really well. It's made to absorb the shock of shots, which limits the wear and tear on the net. It's exactly the width the crease would be, so it doesn't get in the way of backyard drills (and actually helps you visualize where the crease would be). This backstop has easily saved me dozens of hours I would have spent chasing balls (not to mention setting up a net or other type of backstop behind the cage). Since this backstop attaches to the goal and folds back, you can put the goal anywhere and still catch missed shots (vs. other nets you need to install or separate pop-up net solutions). This company really stands behind their product as well, is always working to make it even better. Seriously, if you want to stop chasing balls (or your a parent that likes their big unbroken windows just the way they are), this is a great investment. ... show more

    • BEST lacrosse accessory EVER !!
So easy to install and keep in place ALL season/year long. I have NEVER taken it off. My son rarely throws a ball outside of the reaches of this backstop. Well worth the $$ in how many lacrosse balls you will save yourself from losing over its lifetime. We’ve had ours up on our goal for over 2 years with no signs of wearing out. When I did have a piece that was starting to wear, Michael from customer support could not have been more responsive; and is sending us out 4 new replacement bungee cords. Totally love this company, and would buy another one in a heartbeat (but as I mentioned, it’s holding up so well, I will know NEVER have to). An even bigger testament to its durability is, if the wind ever blows over our goal (and we live in a very windy area) the net stay perfectly put. (I will say this, though, I do keep the net retracted as much as possible when not in use to prevent from being blown over). I have even had the nets come flying open in the wind, and when I go to put them back up, I have never had a single problem retracting and raising the nets. I just check to ensure the corner handles are still tightly engaged and bamo - back in business. I tell EVERYONE that it’s a MUST have item if your son wants to shoot in the backyard. Your goal net will wear out far sooner than this product ever will. If I could give it 6 stars I would. The best PERIOD!! ... show more

    • Price Point Should be Closer to $199, But This Backstop Will Definitely Up Your Game
My son is a U14 attack so shooting practice is essential. Having a backstop allows you to get more shoot more and chase balls less. This translates into more skill, no question about it. Previously I had built my own backstop out of PVC and batting cage netting. I hemmed and hawed about trying to reproduce this design but through in the towel since I could not find quality netting in the right dimensions. Oh yeah, and then there is the price. Ouch. As if Lacrosse isn't expensive enough as is. That is all to say that I was in a pretty critical state of mind when unpacking. The quality of construction is very good. I had a little trouble with the instructions, but still had it installed in under 30 min. I have only had it installed for 4 months but I can tell that this netting will last many seasons. The netting is not terribly thick, but the design of the frame is very clever. The frame helps the net absorb a lot of the impact of the ball, which I believe will limit wholes that you typically get on a taught goal net. This is especially true on the wings to the side. They are not secured to the ground. I thought this would allow the ball to get past, but instead the net sort of wraps around the ball, gives, and then drops the ball right at the base of the net. My son added a nice mod. He stitched a rope along the edge of the netting behind the goal. This creates a pocket that holds all the balls that were shot over the top bar, further speeding up ball recovery. Bottom line: Even though I think this backstop is over priced (I mean it was more than the cage and net combined!) I have no regrets buying it since it is the best solution that I could find and it definitely leads to more shooting per hour. Like others we have had the backstop collapse a couple of times, but it has not been a major nuance. If it gets worse I am sure we can use lashings to secure. ... show more

This is a great product. The backstop is very easy to setup right out of the box and although new I can tell it is very sturdy. The backstop also folds down very easily when you are not using the goal. It allows our son to focus on shooting rather than chasing missed shots throughout the backyard.
