    • Simple and works well
I bought it to negate loss from a split and cable run to a second room. The adjustable gain allows for optimizing weak signal boost and SNR while avoiding tuner overload from strong signals. At it's minimum setting it will attenuate the signal because the gain is less then the insertion/split loss. At the highest setting it reduces SNR a dB or two (not unexpected). I obtained best results in the half to three-quarter range with 10-12dB gain and less than 1dB SNR loss. I used a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q adapter and Kaffeine on Ubuntu Linux to test so this isn't a high accuracy measurement. I'm using it downstream of a pair of dual-quad bay antennas, combined through a 4-way splitter, a 5G filter, and a Winegard LNA-200 amplifier. Manual says it has <2dB noise and 1-16dB gain. It has an attached 2-prong US cord and draws less than 1W from what I measured. It has a pair of keyhole slots in the back for mounting. Connectors seem solid but I only hand-tightened the cables. I was a bit disappointed that Amazon sent me a pre owned Unit, when I ordered a new one (the seal was broken, and it was clearly not wrapped by the manufacturer this way. Even the cord was poorly wrapped), but I needed it, so I tried it and it seems to help the signal. *Update: it stopped working after just a few weeks of use. Too late to return to Amazon. Don't work very well got for parents and there not very happy

Why not put this on there also

Tried it on outside antenna. Would not boost the signal since a booster was already in the line. No signal came through.
