  • Does not include 4 Pilot Pins.
First time purchasing this type of tool on Amazon. The tool came in great condition but per usual if the price looks to good to be true it usually is. It did come with all of the accessories explained in the photos except for the 4 pilot pins. I read in the questions and answers that most annular bits come with these pins included in the price of the bit and I can attest this is not true. The pins are usually sold separately in my experience. Why? Probably to facilitate this crazy scheme called making money. I can also tell you I have recently purchased a Mag Drill from a local Hardware Store and the 4 Pilot pins were included with the purchase of a Slugger Mag Drill. Not sure why I wouldn’t get the 4 pins with my online purchase and I did with my in-store purchase. But it’s really not a deal breaker just be honest about what your selling. The pins aren’t crazy expensive but I do recommend carbide tipped annular cutters. The split point just don’t last as long and don’t fall for the you can send them in to get resharpened because the bits usually shatter before the go dull. Just the nature of the beast. Price is still pretty good for a quality machine just remember you don’t always get what you pay for with online sales. ... show more

  • Tool works well, but warranty registration process is nearly a scam
Purchased on Amazon, but did not need and did not even open for 2 months (wasn't needed). Finally opened, went to register product for warranty coverage and discovered that the on-line warranty registration process will not allow registration after 6 weeks. Called Fein, spoke with a rep, got no satisfaction after explaining problem (he took my phone number, said "I'll call you back." Using drill to drill holes in a new metal building's structural steel, mostly using an aftermarket chuck with a 1/8" (1/4" shank) drill bit. Only problem is, addition of chuck leaves only about 1/2 inch of clearance, so normal twist drills are no good; I'm using a center drill. But the drill itself is robust. As I knew beforehand, I had to expose the circuitry to install a shunt (provided with drill) to override safety circuitry, to allow the drill to operate on less than 3/8" thick steel. When I did this, I found (consistent with the reason for the safety circuit in the first place), that the magnetic grip on thin steel is far too weak to permit easy drilling without clamping the drill base to the steel, which is what I did until could obtain a small 1/2" steel plate. Using this plate underneath the drill base (and supporting member) does yield sufficient grip strength for enough downward force to create fairly rapid drill penetration. My dissatisfaction with the warranty activation online process is based on more than the 6-week time limit for activation. The whole process is ambiguous at points, requiring backtracking twice in my case (I do own another Fein tool, which complicated things in the absence of CLEAR instructions), and even stupid. For example, your login id must be your email address; but if you have forgotten your password for the ID and want a new one provided, the system doesn't simply send it to the email address being used as login ID; it ASKS YOU for what email address you want the password reset email to be sent to. This seems insecure and pointless. Also, the serial number is required. A very small plate on the tool below the handle has TWO numbers which COULD be, but NEITHER is IDENTIFIED as being, a SN; the more likely one just below the tool model name turns out NOT to be the SN. It is actually the one at the bottom of the plate, farthest AWAY from the model name. ... show more

  • Works great.
Works great, had it now for 3 years. We have drilled a lot of holes with no problems.

  • Heavy Duty while Light Weight
Great machine! Needed to add this to the tool crib to complete a job, and wanted something that was heavy duty , but light weight in order to move around. Weighing in at 22 pounds, this thing is like a feather compared to older, heavier mag drills I have used throughout my career. The guys in the shop were equally impressed with the mag's holding power. The only time it gave us the slip, literally, was when we were able to slide it off the steel over some coolant. Otherwise, it holds like it's welded to the material! Fein makes a great product, and I highly recommend their tools. ... show more

  • Disappointed...
First off I don't leave too many reviews. After receiving this mag drill I really liked it's compactness and how it was made. One problem was the coolant leaked all the time.Another problem was it would not power up at times (alot), you would push the power button and it would operate and sometimes it would not. It took me 2 hours of working with it to drilled two holes, packed it back up sent it back... This took 4 hours out of my day dealing with this defective product.I still haven't got my refund yet. This company takes forever to refund your money. ... show more

  • Slugger Magnetic Base Drill
This is the best drill I have owned. It is precision built with no slop in the moving parts. The drilling quality is excellent. I have owned this drill for a little over a year and I rate this 10 out of 10.
