I saw a lot of people say it didn't open I had the same issue then I noticed they tapped the lid down for shipping. Once I removed the tap it started working. I love that it traps the smell and keeps my dog out of it I just wish I didn't have to take it out all the time.

I love that I don't have to buy special bags for this diaper pail! It's the entire reason it caught my eye! Plus the little storage center on it! However... the part that drops and seals the top off from the trash could use a little rework. It doesn't open far enough to let the diaper down a majority of the time. I have to shake the trash can to get the diaper to shimmy down. It also doesn't seem like it seals off very well. It tends to smell after a BM and I feel like we change it more often because of smell rather than it being full. The locking mechanisms on it are great though. I like the idea of this, but it could've been done better. It's bigger than a diaper genie, it uses normal trash bags which is awesome I don't have to spend a ton on special bags. I like the storage in the front and also how easy it is to change bags out. Down side, the diaper dropper doesn't really work especially for bigger diapers, they just get stuck. I have to vigorously press the button to get it to go down which I can imagine is going to break it quicker that way or I have to shove the diaper down with my hands. I also don't like that it stinks standing by it even when it's closed, the smell seeps out, it's not really bad but it's there, unlike a diaper genie. I really feel like they could have designed the trap door better where the diapers don't get stuck and that seems to be most of everyone's complaints. Overall I think I prefer this over the diaper genie, especially for size 3+ diapers. ... show more

Since the Diaper Genie is no longer actually the Diaper Geenie, I set out to find something that doesn't open the the main disposal area every time a diaper is thrown away. I was happy to come across this as I was not coming up with an alternative in my research. I was hesitant due to some of the reviews but it's been a great investment so far. We've had it for only a little over a week so our opinion may change but will update here. So far haven't had any smell though our baby's diapers haven't really had any strong odors yet. It's easy to use. Open by pressing the top of the lid, drop in diaper, close lid, press button to drop diaper in can. Only 1 diaper can be disposed at a time and all wipes and garbage need to be contained and wrapped in the diaper. Make sure to press the release button all the way down to drop the diaper otherwise sometimes it will not fall. It does fill up quickly and usually only fills half a bag but it's heavy so you definitely don't want to try to keep adding to it to fill the bag. ... show more

Baby is 5 weeks old and going through a LOT of dirty diapers. This thing is seriously smell proof until you open the bottom chamber to drop the diaper in. 4 stars because the flap to drop the diaper in sometimes malfunctions and doesn’t drop the dirty diaper, resulting in us having to manually open it which makes the room smell and kind of defeats the purpose. ... show more

You can still somewhat smell the content through it. Occasionally the bottom flap with become stuck open and then smell really gets out but I am happier with this than I ever was the diaper genie. Using a standard trash bag is extremely convenient too
