I the recent subfreezing temps I wore them with Dickies work socks over them. It was warm and comfortable in Boots tramping around the forest. The moisture wicks out to the Dickies Socks. I bought these for my husband. He hasn't received them yet they are for Christmas but I took them out of the package and they are soft, appear supportive and are thick, which is what I wanted for him for the cold nights at work. They have a bit of a stretch so I believe they will fit perfectly. He'll love the over the calf too because that's the only type of socks he'll wear. I wasn't sure what to expect but they are very good socks I am pleased with them. I would buy these again for him and others. Even thinking about getting myself a smaller size to wear.
