I bought these as a compliment to my Smith goggles and used them on a ski trip last weekend. They are now a replacement. The first thing I look for are the optics. My first reaction was that the goggles were distorting my vision, which was unacceptable. I even initiated a return before realizing that the "distortion" was just the line between the tinted upper part of the lens and the untinted lower part of the lens. The tinted portion provides extra sharpness while also giving protection from the sun. The untinted portion helps with skiing in low light conditions. I really like the combination now that I know it's there and have adjusted. The next thing I look for is fit. These goggles fit my large head and face well. The strap adjusts very easily and the goggles are wide enough to fit properly. I don't wear glasses but can see how they would fit as over the glasses goggles. They seal well against the cold. Next, I want goggles that don't fog up. The conditions over my ski trip would have fogged my old Smith goggles, but these did not get foggy. Between the tight seal against my face and the ventilation, I had no fogging problems. The last thing is durability. I can't say yet how well these will wear over time, but they look completely new after 2 days of hard skiing. Now that I have adjusted to the tinting, I am very happy with these. They cost 1/3 of what my old Smiths cost and outperformed the Smiths out of the box.
