I thought these were kind of low quality when I first handled them. Don’t know why, just a first impression. I think because they just looked so well-made and pristine like they should belong on a mannequin or something. I’m used to tactical boots so I guess I was biased. But after a couple years of owning these, there isn’t a hint of wear on them anywhere and the leather is in perfect condition. and I’m big and heavy and wear these five days a week walking to and from my car and sometimes all day at work. Every once in a while, I touch them up with some quick touch up polish and they look like they came right out of the box brand new. Awesome quality, definitely true to size as a wide 14, the only thing I’d improve is a bit more cushion in the stock insert, but I fix that with some high-quality inserts or plain old Dr. sholls. The souls on these shoes are particularly firm and hard adding to the feeling of a lack of cushion, but they’re crazy durable because after two years there isn’t a hint of wear on the soles, whereas my bates Oxfords and tactical boots have all the asymmetric wear associated with my mechanics. ... show more

These are really nice, I used to wear them back in the early 2000s and I still love them! I would order them in a men’s size 8 1/2 but they don’t sell them on Amazon in 8 1/2 and the equivalent is a woman’s size 10. I got the size 10, and it was too big. So I am sending it back for a refund so I can order a size 9. They have a roomie toebox, so not sure if you want to order a wide size. ... show more

These are my go to shoes for daily use and occasional informal visits. I used to buy them at the shoe store rather frequently but for some reason the retailers stopped carrying them. I knew my size from my previous ventures with this shoe. This is a very comfortable, durable, good fitting, and good looking shoe. If you're cheap like me, you'll appreciate that these things last a good long time. Even after they are not presentable for social use I've used older pairs for working around the yard and garden. The laces are durable too, which may seem strange to note, but the pair of Sketchers I wore as the interim solution till I discovered these here on Amazon had some crappy laces that frayed to easily. For me, I like durability and utility, so the laces are kind of an issue. I like these shoes very much. But if you work in the garden or end up traipsing through some mud the rugged sole will capture a good amount of soil, so when you come into the house you'll track it around if you don't knock it off. I have bought three pairs of these, not because they were worn out, but because I like them so much and I want a different colors. The picture above is of the shoes after being worn almost every day for a year. You can see that they are not splitting or coming apart in any way and I'm a maintenance man and I am on my feet all the time. These suit my needs incredibly well because they look professional and they have tremendous tread like a boot underneath. But the soul is rubber so it sticks well and it feels well on my foot. I might even go so far as to say that these Skechers are the best shoes I've ever had. Again that's probably why I own three pairs of them! ... show more

I've been wearing these for a few days now. They fit just right and are must lighter than my wolverine oxfords. The heel is lighter and the lack of steel toes makes them easy to walk long distances without feeling like i have lead on my feet. My wolverines started to feel heavy and bulky after about a mile of walking in them every day. I hope they hold up well, but it's hard to tell this early on. I got the dark brown and love the color. They feel less bulky than most work shoes i've had. They look nice too. I think these will be my main work shoes because I'm not required to wear a steel toes, just leather uppers. Love these shoe so far. I normally wear a size 10.5 or so and ordered 10s. Just an update. I've been wearing these in conditions where I have to deal with a lot of oil and coolant. The finish started to look pretty crappy after getting spots of oil and whatnot on them. Also, The leather is pretty thin and started to crease around the toe very quickly. I covered mine in a few coats of mink oil (probably not the best thing to do if you like how they look new.) They've developed deep cracks and dents in the toe area from wear and I'm hoping that the mink oil will eventually make the color more consistent in the wrinkled areas. They're much darker now and the creases are light. Also, I've noticed that some of the stitching has starting to pull out after a pretty short time. Both the stitching that holds the sole on and the stitching around the bottom holes for the laces have started to pull out. Bottom line, These would be good shoes if you're wearing them in an environment where you aren't exposed to a lot of oil or other fluids. Maybe there's another style that has a composite toe and a more oil resistant finish that would work better for me. They're really comfortable and easy to walk long distances in, but after only a few weeks, they're covered in creases and dents. The leather is pretty thing compared to my wolverines.
