  • Great for the price
Size: 10.5 Color: White/Navy
I've purchased a few pairs of Sketchers sneakers over the years because the brand always has sufficient width to accommodate my rather wide feet. This pair is the first I've bought without actually going into a store to try them on, and as far as width goes they didn't disappoint: they're every bit as wide as other pairs of Sketchers sneakers I've had. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you have anything other than fairly wide feet you won't like how Sketchers fit. But you'll love them if you have wide ol' clodhoppers like me; I don't even have to buy the extra wide version of Sketchers shoes as their standard style is wide enough to comfortably accommodate my D or E width feet. Other notable features: a thick, soft sole with a deep tread, which works well on dirt and even shallow mud. These aren't specifically designed as trail shoes, but they definitely have more tread than a true running/walking shoe. To get that extra grip, however, the sole is thicker, which, along with the fact that the uppers are nearly all leather with no lightweight nylon mesh, means these shoes are heavier than true running shoes, and even heavier than most shoes designated as "cross trainers." I'm fine with this trade off as I go over all kinds of terrain, so I want the extra grip and protection from sharp things, but these aren't the shoes for youif being lightweight is most important feature. Finally, the reason for four stars instead of five, is that this style is the first variety of Sketchers sneakers I've worn that have a slightly elevated heel. This took some getting used to, as in, my feet hurt the first couple times I wore them for around the house to break them in. Just the slight elevation in the heel was different enough to change the way the muscles in my feet had to work, and that caused muscle soreness. But I run several miles a day, so I decided to take the chance that the heel would compress enough to allow me to wear them without discomfort, and this seems to have been what happened after just a single day of my usual run/walk routine. In retrospect this wasn't a great idea: the shoes probably wouldn't have been in returnable condition after having been worn out in the world and getting dirty, but for $53 (on sale) I figured I'd take the chance. And I'm glad I did, because if this pair is as solid as past pairs of Sketchers, they'll last for about three years of being worn two to three times a week, up to 10 miles per wear, and in weather ranging from snow to 100° summer heat and all the sloppy spring and autumn mud in between. That's a lot of use for a pair of shoes <$60 pair of shoes. But the could have been useless if the heel hadn't compressed enough to be comfortable, and I don't know why anyone would make an athletic shoe with any amount of incline to the sole. ... show more

  • Love the Skechers!!!
Size: 7.5 Wide Color: White
For many years I faithfully wore the Nike Air Walk and then, low and behold, they stopped making them! They were one of very few "wide" shoes that Nike made -- plus they were all leather, very light, provided great support and were super comfortable. So, once they were discontinued, I was on the search for a replacement.... I didn't think of Skechers much as a "serious" brand, mostly because I didn't know much about them, but it turns out they do sell some wide fitment shoes, and these, for me, are an absolute great fit! I tried a pair, a few years back, and have faithfully replaced them every time, having once again found a pair of shoes I really love. They are very similar to the Air Walks, in comfort and durability, although, sadly, they don't last as long as the Nike's did. Then again, they are about half the price! So, I don't feel too bad having to replace these more often. I'd say a pair lasts six to eight months, where the Nike's used to last more than a year, but, as I say, these are a lot more affordable to replace, so I guess it kind of works out, cost wise. For me, the most important thing is having a pair of shoes that are comfortable, versatile and look good enough to wear to work with good Levi's and a sport shirt, yet can also be used for walks or even light hikes. Since they are all white I have the same problem I had with the white Air Walks, which is that they tend to get dirty kind of quickly, but, like the Air Walks, they also clean up beautifully with some shoe cleaner and a bit of Sneaker whitener, so they tend to look great until they simply wear out -- in my case it is usually the side that eventually blows out -- which was the same on the Air Walks, but just didn't happen as quickly. Even so, six to eight months of life is pretty good to get out of them, considering I wear these pretty often throughout the average week. So, I'm a fan now, and in fact will be getting a second pair of these to have around, since they also come in blue and white, and that way I don't have to clean these up as often, and that's actually an improvement over the Air Walks, since they only came in the white or solid black. With these, I can now have an all white pair, and now can also have a more "casual" sneaker for other looks or outfits or uses, and, since two pairs is not much more than one pair of what the Air Walks use to cost, I'm actually a bit ahead of the game. I'm very happy with these, and I'd certainly recommend them highly! ... show more

  • Perfect Fit & Very Comfortable
Size: 15 Wide Color: White/Navy
I bought these for my husband who has a hard time finding a comfortable shoe in size 15 wide. He was so pleased with these shoes. He said they were a perfect fit. Not too big or too wide. He wore them all day today and kept commenting on how comfortable they were. Some weeks ago I bought him this exact shoe in all black. He wanted a shoe to do yardwork in and he said the black ones were comfortable too but the fit was not as good as the white ones. These are leather which makes them easy to clean. Even though they are 15 wide they don't look huge on his feet. Definitely worth buying. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more
