I'm a senior, and in my younger years I was hit by a drunk on the highway... causing a great deal of damage to my left foot (broken toes, total loss of skin on top and nephropathy). As I've aged, I find that this design is as comfortable, if not more comfortable, than specialized shoes prescribed by my doctor. Only one thing to be a little aware of. We like to hike, and the broad based and tapered sole of the shoe are great in reducing an ankle twists, but I have wedged the tapered sole a couple of times between two narrow spaces. They have never come apart like this. Yes I bought them last (2022) year in April. I didn't really wear them until summer running in the cemetery. By the end of the summer they started coming apart. I had use shoegoo to glue them back together. It's seemed to work. But yet again this April (2023) yet again they started coming apart again. These pictures are the second time. Never have I ever had this problem. Not even with $25 Walmart shoes. Those I have to get new ones cuz the tread wears out. Not cuz there falling apart. So..... These shoes have almost always been great for me. I'm a bigger guy with wide feet, so very few shoes are both durable and comfortable as I'm on my feet a lot. So, my only real issue with these is the insole. Memory foam feels great and all, but it's not durable for long term wear. In only a couple months there were big holes in the fabric and foam at the balls of my feet. These insoles are not removable, (glued in), so not as easy to replace as I'd like. I needed to get a new pair of shoes for work. Because I stand all day at work cushion is important to my feet. I like the cushion of these shoes. They also look and fit great. Last time I had sketches was 2005 for PT in the Army. Absolutely hated them. I got these new ones and they've changed a ton! Very pleased, so comfortable. I'd order a half size up though. These fit a bit tight.

The Afterburn Sneakers by Sketchers are by far the best pair of Sketchers ive ever purchased. Ive owned maybe 20 different pairs of sketchers over the years and this exact pair are indestructable so far. Had them for almost 2 years and wear them to work on greasey floors and in the rain/snow ect and no sign of them blowing out or falling apart. Most sketchers I purchase are lucky to make it a year. Will purchase another pair of these if I can when my current ones do decide to go to shoe heaven (the garbage can outside) ... show more
