And that's going to be relevant to how this ring presents. The long and the short of it is that at the same carat weight, a cushion cut stone is going to *look* smaller than just about any other cut I can think of. But first, MOISSANITE IS NOT LAB DIAMOND. Period. Full stop. Lab created diamond is... lab created DIAMOND. It's pure carbon, just like mined diamond, Moissanite is silicon carbide. Nobody gets a 5 star score from me with outright lies in the description. We're currently sitting at about 3.5 stars so this held on to a 4 by the skin of its teeth. Taking care of business, the ring is what it claims to be. The band is stamped 925 and does not react to a magnet. The center stone and all of the stones on the band pass a thermo pen with no issues. The stones around the girdle and base bands are far, far too small to test, even under magnification. The probe just isn't small enough. I do not dispute for one minute that this is a 4ct stone. I've checked the paperwork and confirmed that the cert number matches the one etched on the girdle of the actual stone. No question in my mind that it's 4 carat. But have a look at the photo that I've provided for reference. In the center is this ring. To the right is a known 2ct moissanite earring, round brilliant or some similar cut. To the left is a known 1.5 carat cushion cut mossanite stud. It *looks* like it's about 2.7-3ish carats in a more common cut, and I feel like that's a little generous. Now, I don't say that this is necessarily a bad thing. If you're wearing a 4ct moissanite in, say, round brilliant cut, that thing is borderline comical for most purposes when set in a femme-leaning design. (In masc rings with big hunks of metal a stone that big would not stand out nearly as much, but it's still a chonk no matter how you package it.) So I think if you're intent on a big moissanite, cushion really is the way to go, because you'll get your desired carat weight without looking like a gag gift for the bach party. The depth is also relevant because this thing sits HIGH, but also doesn't have a ton of space underneath for stacking bands. I've tried it with a couple, and only a thin, thin one will sit semi (not entirely) flush with the band here. You would most likely want to pair this with a notched band if you're using it as part of a wedding or travel set. A cushion also lights up differently than more traditional cuts, but not *less*. I'd say it's not as "loud" as a brilliant or similar, which is more or less designed to *be* loud, but no less visually substantial. ... show more
