  • An incredible value (and not a poor horn)
The build quality is exceptional! It feels great to play and plays easy and in tune over the whole range of the instrument. I noticed the high F# took a bit more air to get through than my previous horn, but ironically the altissimo felt effortless, so I may switch to an alternate altissimo fingering in the future for F#. For anyone short of a professional, I would find it extremely hard to say you'll find a better sax for a better price. I've never had to work less to get a low A out of a bari. I've been playing bari for about 8 years now through many bands all throughout high school and college. It's on par with, or better than any other horn I've had the chance to play. This is a great product, and since I lived close enough to their distribution center in CA, they hand delivered it to me a couple hours away only two days after I ordered it. That kind of service blows my mind! Kudos to Singer's Day. They have a great product on their hands and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great tone/sound, but build reliability is questionable.
I have this bari for just short of a year. When this bari arrived all of the reviews, both here and others on YouTube seemed to be spot on. It is a beautiful horn. The finger play was very comfortableThe tone/sound was mighty close to that of much more expensive bari saxes. And the mouthpiece/ligature sucked. However, about a month of playing, a spring assembly on the lower keys malfunctioned. The spring would not stay in place in its base post or on the notch on the key. The two notches were not aligned, and it appeared that the spring had actually been bent to fit. My repair tech ended up using a thick, malleable non-blue steel spring to fix it. Recently, 11 months into the 1 year warrant, the notch holding the spring to open the B pad when playing C broke. It is in the shop now, awaiting parts. Singer'sDay has been cooperative in both rapairs, honoring the warranty and covering repair cost. However, I am now worried about the durability of the horn after the warranty period. ... show more

  • Great horn! Great value!
If you're finding this bari from Jay Metcalf's (Better Sax) recommendation (like I did), his advice is spot-on. It's a great bari and tremendous value. I played sax through my college years and had always borrowed the school's bari, never owning one (until now). I'm impressed by the build quality and solid/smooth action in the keys. I quickly swapped-out the stock mouthpiece for a Yamaha 5C and Rovner Dark ligature and found a big improvement in tone, especially in the upper register. Aesthetically, it's a gorgeous horn, and the online pictures don't do the gold lacquer justice. It shipped from the Los Angles area quickly via FedEx and was very well packed in a thick outer box filled with foam peanuts and the bari nestled safely inside the case, wrapped in soft cloth. The box was checked with no less than 10 big red fragile stickers and FedEx took those seriously. Of note, the inside of the case had a strong "new car smell", so I left it open on our patio, and after a day of outgassing, it smells fine. I am a detail oriented and picky person in life and couldn't be more pleased with this horn. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Plays well
First of all, this baritone sax is eye-catching. The lacquer finish is lovely. The keys are easy to reach for a person who has smaller hands like me. The sound is just awesome and has a full-bodied resonance that will knock your socks off. It plays in tune. It played right out of the box with no adjustments. My harness strap works very well with this baritone sax. This sax feels balanced in my lap. It's not too heavy. It is truly a pleasure to play this instrument. The case is well-designed and provides substantial protection for the instrument. It is not overly heavy and has wheels which is very handy. I would highly recommend this instrument to anyone. ... show more

  • A remarkably capable and well-made bari. sax - for a remarkable price!
I took a chance on this horn, although two other Chinese made instruments I purchased in the past year (a curved soprano for under $300 and a beautiful bass flute for $1100) turned out to be amazingly descent-playing and solidly built. The same is the case with this horn. It is an almost exact copy of a very popular Japanese bari. (that I was looking into, but couldn't justify the price). This horn plays very well, and came with virtually nothing needed - no leaks, no play in the keys, perfectly regulated, and surprisingly well-finished. And despite what I've read from some folks here, mine plays VERY well in tune, throughout the range (using a digital tuner). This is with the mouthpiece right where it should be (not too far in or out). Nice altissimo too. I would highly recommend this bari. There are several even cheaper ones available (in various colors and trendy finishes - why??), and I have no idea how they fare. But this one is a keeper as far as I'm concerned. ... show more

  • Just ok
It's just okay. The mouth piece is sub par. The keys bend easily. We've had it a few months and have already had a repair. You will definitely want a better mouth piece. Looks good. Plays okay. Next time, I will pay more for a better brand. I thought this would be a diamond in the rough. I was wrong. ... show more

  • All together it's surprising
When I first saw this saxophone I reminisced on my days playing a school loaner bari and honestly thought eh if it's not good I'll just return it but when i got it in my hands it was like love at first sight it feels good and plays good and in my opinion plays just as good if not a little better than the yanagisawa b901 I played in high school (for reference there is a $8,000 difference in price) now is it perfect not quite ide recommend getting a good mouthpiece and ligature because while yes the one it comes with works okay the ligature doesn't fit right with a reed and because of that it doesn't hold it in place very well but don't let that be the reason you turn it down because for another 50 ish dollars you could get a mouthpiece that would play better and make for a good first bari sax as a student or you just want something to play with to get you started ... show more
