  • Need a bobbin?
Size: Pack of 1 Style: Bobbin Winder w/ Adapter
My wife loves to sew. She has her mom's old machine and loves it. She doesn't want a new one. So we had a complete service and now the thing purrs. They told us the auto bobbin wasn't working properly and it wasn't worth replacing the motor. They recommended an external Bobbin winder. This Singer winder is perfect. My wife loves it and that's all that matters. Happy Wife, Happy Life! ... show more

  • Uneven winding but does the job
Size: Pack of 1 Style: Bobbin Winder w/ Adapter
Sounds a little clunky when it’s running, and always winds unevenly (thicker at the bottom), but it does the job. I just stick my finger under the thread near the bobbin to guide the thread upward a couple times while it’s spinning, and it ends up pretty even. Also, for those that are saying it has no OFF button, the little V shaped lever on the far left is the shut off! Put it in the “up” position (away from the bobbin, toward the spool) and it will only run when you’re pressing the red button. In the “down” position (against the bobbin), it will auto stop once the thread is full enough to push it. And for those that are getting loose or chaotically wound bobbins, the upper right circular thing that you feed the thread around is a the TENSION adjustment! I turned it all the way to the right to close it, and then turned it to the left like just a half a turn to “open” the tension. I get consistently tightly wound bobbins. Otherwise yeah with no markings of any kind, it’s difficult to tell what sort of tension level it is “set” at until you do one, and it winds so quickly that by the time you realize it’s wrong you already have a stupid tangled mess that you have to unwind and throw away the thread. ... show more

  • Doesn't work
Size: Pack of 1 Style: Bobbin Winder w/ Adapter
I bought one of these 15 years ago and it always worked great. Unfortunately, I lost it and wanted a replacement. This one does not work. It winds half a bobbin very loosely. The spindle it gives you will only work with tiny spools of thread - gütterman and large coats & Clark will not fit with the top cap on the spindle (something the one I bought years ago never needed.) I tried everything. I wasted more time screwing around with this and wasted more thread than I ever have before. And I have this for ease of use because my singer simple machine from 15 years ago can’t wind a bobbin any differently than this thing. I'm left with one conclusion: singer can’t wind a bobbin. Unless it's a fifteen year old singer bobbin winder. Returned. ... show more

  • Great time-saving device
Size: Pack of 1 Style: Bobbin Winder w/ Adapter
Easy to use. Easy to understand how it works even without reading the instructions. Was delivered during a rainstorm and the package got very waterlogged. Took this out of package, wiped it down, and it worked great. Great time-saving device for someone who sees a lit.

  • Probably Not the Best Option for Sewing
Size: Pack of 1 Style: Bobbin Winder w/ Adapter
I purchased this bobbin winder to wind bobbins of silk thread I use for hand applique. Having a small disk of bobbins is more easily managed in my appliqué kit than multiple spools of thread. This bobbin winder works wonderfully well for that purpose. I was able to quickly wind about 25 bobbins to keep in my kit. That being said, there are limitations on its usefulness for use in a sewing machine. In 25 bobbins, I did not get a consistently even bobbin. They WERE consistently wound more on one side than the other. About every 5th or so bobbin had tangles, which would have made them completely unusable in a sewing machine. Again, I was working with 100 wt silk thread, so no idea how the machine will perform with 50 wt thread. I think if the spindle were more stable these issues could be resolved, but as is there is a fair amount of vibration even with the spindle cap on. The spindles will accommodate regular spools of thread, but my silk cones were a stretch for it. I could not wind a regular Aurifil spool at all (my one attempt at 50 wt thread). So, for hand stitchers, this machine will likely work well depending upon the size of spool you are working with. For machine stitchers, you probably want a better bobbin winder. ... show more
