My daughter just turned 4 years old. She normally wears a size 5 in shorts and size 6 in tops. She is roughly 43” tall and 40lbs. I followed the instructions of the other reviews and ordered one size down from her normal size in these shorts. I ordered a size 4 and as you can see from the picture they fit well. I think if you order one size down these shorts they should fit fine. Unless your kid is on the heavier side then maybe you could stick with your normal size. In the picture she is wearing the color navy shorts. I knew from the other reviews they wouldn’t be as short and fitted as some other bands of cartwheel shorts are. Please keep that in mind that these shorts aren’t as tight as biker shorts. We are fine with the way they fit. My daughter says they’re comfy. The waist band is stretchy and the shorts themself feel like a soft cotton blend. The waist band hits just right below the belly button. I just purchased these for play wear and everyday. They are the length of regular shorts. I will probably order the grey/black ones too. They are comfy and casual and easy to throw on. They are easy for toddlers to pull up and down to go to the restroom on the potty. They washed fine with very minimal shrinkage if any at all. These are great to throw on under dresses, worn alone, for sleeping, lounging, running errands, etc. My daughter especially likes to wear these to bed. She prefers these over her denim shorts for everyday. I’ve always been a fan of “Carter’s simple joys” leggings for babies and toddlers and these shorts are similar in feel to those. They hold up well. The fabric is thicker than old navy cartwheel shorts and leggings. Not to mention these simple joys shorts are on sale for a great price, which is why I’m ordering another pack of them. Hope my review was helpful to someone. ... show more
