I've wanted an ocarina for awhile, I'm glad that I got this one. I like that it includes songs from the Legend of Zelda. The book that comes with it is easy to learn from and walks you through how to play and has several songs in it. I'm not sure if every ocarina is the same, but one specific note on mine is way flatter than all the other. I'm not incredibly bothered by it, but it is annoying since I have no idea if it is something I can fix. The little hand stand for it is hard to figure out. I don't trust it to hold my ocarina. I'd honestly not suggest using it, unless you really want to display the ocarina. ... show more

I have been a huge Zelda fan since playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64, and it was always in the back of my mind to get an Ocarina, but I just always forgot about it and never did, until now. When I saw this I had to get it! Packaging/Presentation: This ocarina came in a branded box and includes the ocarina, a (not that great) carrying case, a string to carry it with (optional), a ceramic hand to display the ocarina on, and an instructional booklet that shows how to play the ocarina, and even has a few Zelda songs in it! Use: Full disclosure, I am not a musician, and I did not get this ocarina to play it - I mainly got it for display in my growing collection of geeky things. For Display: I love how the ocarina looks in my collection of geeky things, and if you're someone who loves Zelda and are on a budget, I think that you'll think similarly. The ocarina itself is a little smaller than my hand and I think it is beautiful and has a glossy, ceramic finish and the triforce logo from Zelda on the bottom which is cool. My only concern with the triforce logo is it looks painted on and I'm worried it may fade over time, especially if you play the ocarina a lot (not a huge concern though for someone like me). It feels solid and has enough weight to it that it doesn't feel cheap. It took me a few tries to get it to balance on the ceramic hand which adds a nice touch for the visual display. However, if you do it vertically like in the main display picture it does feel like it could fall off at any moment. I eventually decided to place it horizontally on the hand like in the pictures lower down in the product description, and my mind feels much more at ease with it this way. For Music: Don't take too much insight from my review for the musical aspect, because I have zero musical background or talent outside of a short lived middle school band class. I will say this seems like a solid beginner's ocarina if you're on a budget for music, but there are probably better ones out there for this purpose (they are also pricier). All I can add here are facts: the instruction booklet includes 6 lessons in sheet music and some common songs such as Ode to Joy (Beethoven); Happy Birthday; Bird Song; Lightly Row; O Come, Little Children; Minuet (Bach); Jingle Bells; The Farmer's Daughter; Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star; Mary Had a Little Lamb; and Happy New Year. For Zelda lovers it also includes: Ocarina of Time, Song of Time, Epona's Song, Requiem of Spirit, and Minuet of Woods. I like that for the Zelda songs it includes them showing which holes in the ocarina to use for the musically illiterate like myself instead of sheet music! Value: This is where this little ocarina I think shines best. Yes, you could pay hundreds of dollars and get a higher quality one. But in this price range, I don't think you can beat this! Overall, I really love this little ocarina for its looks, feel, and for the value. For music, I think the added instruction booklet is great for starters looking to wade into ocarinas. For display, I think the quality look/feel of the ocarina are excellent for its price, and I would recommend it to any geeky Zelda fan like me that is on a budget and wants to display it in their collection of geeky things. ... show more

It is absolutely the coolest thing to display in your home and it even works well. It is easy to use and aesthetically very pleasing. Sorry for the nerd reference in the headline, but this Ocarina is NEAT! I love how immediately recognizable it is to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. One of the best games in existence and this ocarina faithfully replicates it. It's very pleasant to look at and lots of fun to show people! Makes for a great display too if you have other Zelda collectables. Buuuuuuuut... As a musician, playing it is a slightly different story. It works, it sounds like an ocarina, but the notes are a bit hard to get out sometimes and some notes are straight out of key. If you get really good at it you can do some decent work, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. This ocarina for the price is better served as a fan collectable. It's a beauty though, so keep it polished and put it on display! It comes with a little hand that holds it, but I could never get it to balance correctly. I would recommend keeping it somewhere where it can't fall because this is made of ceramic and will definitely shatter to pieces if dropped. ... show more
