I’m very eager to give this to friends as gifts and to use with my 10 year old daughter. I’m confident to gift to high school friends too. It’s much much more than just journal prompts- lots of teaching and lessons before the prompts which surprised me. Lectio divina? Little challenges to do kind things for another or leave notes with inspiration and examples for the “I don’t know” phase. Whoa! Didn’t see that coming. A little curious if kids are supposed to read some of the mom personal reflections, but those are few and far enough for every family to address on their own. This would be great to see made for any parent/child combo instead of only mother daughter!! I’d love to have just a big family one!! Or my husband to do one with the boys. ... show more

This book has it all! Fun ways to "discuss" (without having to be face-to-face, which can cause anxiety) anything and everything with your mom/daughter! It offers great prompts on varying topics and the stories about some saints and how they relate to things going on in lives today, gives a lesson of hope. You don't have to be Catholic to reap what this book has to offer relationships between moms and daughters; it's just great to have the Christian-spin while relating to each other.     • Just what I hoped for
I bought this journal as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old daughter. We've enjoyed doing other Mother/Daughter journals but I liked that this one also offered a Catholic spiritual component. It can be hard to have a natural conversation with a tween girl about our spirituality without it feeling forced so this was appealing as a way to make it fun, personal, and comfortable. When I flipped through it, it was everything I hoped it'd be and more. I can't wait to give this to my daughter and get started. I hope there's a mother/son one in the works too! ... show more

The Introduction had our ten y.o. daughter ecstatic to begin the book. Then we did the first mother/daughter Q & A. I was heartbroken when I only got 5/12 correct for our daughter's anticipated responses.     • Special opportunities to reflect and share
After I first picked up this journal and completed the how-well-do-I-know-you exercises with my daughter (who's almost 11), I had to repeat the exercise with my 15-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter too! My daughter and I continue to work through the book, which includes helpful prompts using saint stories and scripture. Even if not every question prompts an obvious answer, it requires us to think, reflect, and share. Visually, this journal is very appealing! My daughter loves the hand drawings and splashes of color, and it's presented in a way that is light and fun. When it's complete, my daughter will be able to treasure this shared journal for many years to come! Would make a great gift for a mother or a daughter. (I received a review copy from the publisher.
