All of my usual means of recording meetings died at the start of the meeting and I had just received the mic from Amazon so with ever using it before, I downloaded the Motiv software, paired the microphone, and captured the audio of the meeting without issue. The media could not be loaded. I’ve been trying out a lot of different mobile mics, and I really wanted to see if the Sure MoveMic 88+ could meet that sweet spot for sound quality on-the-go with my iPhone. While the sound quality is stellar, the direct-to-phone convenience is limited, so it makes this a questionable value. The good news is that the microphone quality is stellar and fairly easy to use. As I have the version without the receiver, the only way for me to use this is via a USB-C cable or, really, via the Bluetooth pairing using the required MOTIV video or audio apps. These apps are required to get the full functionality of the mic, including switching up the EQ, polar patterns, gain, noise reduction, and high-pass filters. I particularly like that I can hear and monitor the sound via the 3.5mm jack, though I did notice that I couldn’t actually hear differences when live monitoring this way while flipping in and off the noise reduction switch (though I did notice it in the final recording). Every other setting brought noticeable changes in the sound in real time, so I’m able to adjust the mic’s pattern and gain to my needs. And the noise level was excellent, given that this is a condenser mic, so that I was able to reasonably mask my noisy bedroom fans, purifiers, and HVAC, and adjust the gain accordingly. The build quality and overall design & feel is excellent. It’s compact and sleek—something I could put in my pocket (or in the included roll-up sleeve). I also appreciate the practical mounting options as it comes with two different mic clips: a standard threaded mic clip and a cold-shoe mic clip that hold on to the mic super securely (really, you have to intentionally push this thing in to get it to fit and hold). This makes it easier to use for mobile applications on-the-go as compared to a larger mic setup. It also looks clean, minimalist, and professional in a great way. In terms of the battery life, I tend to use this for shorter applications, so I haven’t had the chance to run it to empty. However, I haven’t yet felt like I was getting close to empty, so that’s reasonable enough for me. I don’t know whether it can push longer than I’ve used it, an hour or so, but I’ve had plenty of battery to spare even after that usage. Despite all the above, I still hesitate with this mic. Without the receiver, the limitations are larger than expected in iOS, and you’re going to need to be absolutely happy running it through the MOTIV software. And, to be frank, the software is seriously disappointing. Despite the fact that it “technically works,” it also is clunky overall, crashed on me at least once (making it unreliable for serious use), and should have more extensive options for a premium mic. I can’t shake the feeling that this mic-only setup is an unfinished product without a receiver…and even so, the fact that the required apps are so unpolished makes the value proposition lower for me. Nonetheless, I’ve been using the mic with great results, even if I’m limited by the software. Hope this helps! ... show more

Although I was not happy with the price, I am happy with the overall purchase due to the quality of the Mike and the ease of transport during travel due to its compact science and well organized case. The sound quality is amazing. And there are so many different ways to use this microphone application wise. While I think $500 is a lot for the snake. I am glad I have it. ... show more

The Shure MoveMic 88+ microphone is great and works perfect with my DJI OSMO Pocket 3 video camera. I can use the wireless attachment OR plug it directly into the Pocket 3 using the included USB-C cable.

As an owner of a handful of Shure studio mics (SM57's, SM58s, Shure 55s) this mic stood out to me for a various reasons. It's wireless, stereo, various polar patterns, quaint and small, and it's a Shure microphone. Shure makes some of the best microphones for voice applications and podcasts with the ubiquitous SM7b. I figured this would be a viable option and a good solution for some projects I have with volunteering in helping our Veteran friends. The group of Vets I am working with are excited to create podcast content, and this mic would serve well. Upon receiving the mic, it came well packaged. The box included a roll-open organizer pouch that holds together with a velcro strap. Inside are various mesh pockets that have an elastic rim that helps secure the contents. The contents are this mic, with a foam "clown nose" pop/wind filter, a USB-C charging cable, and two clips, one for mounting on a boom arm, and the other is good for a tripod, each with different thread types. The pouch is a neoprene, soft feeling pouch. What I love about this mic is the sound quality. It's almost like a SM7b in the palm of your hand... almost. One thing about this mic is the fact that you will want (and some cases need) to use the app that is geared for this mic. The mic pairs via bluetooth using the Motiv app (I'm using Android)... This process of pairing was fairly simple with the app... which you need to pair as if you tried to pair the phone gives a warning that the mic relies on the app to pair. I have not tested the range, but I suspect because it uses bluetooth, it's limited to such distances that bluetooth can accomodate. The mic can be accompanied with a receiver that might make connection easier on other devices like your computers. I was not able to pair this wirelessly with my home PC, and was getting disconnected from bluetooth. While I want to LOVE this mic, it's hard to do so. There are some quirks to connecting this to a PC machine. There are other aspects that push me to knock a star off the review. The mic is fairly dependant on software to control it, but some of that software needs some polishing. While the mic sounds great, and offers a great stereo sound and the phone apps are good in bringing the full potential and capabilities out of the mic. The mic us good on the PC without bluetooth if I connect it using USB. No problems there, but the MOTIV Mix software is a little bit lacking. The USB connection/bluetooth has a slight bit of latency, so bummer this isn't going to be a Karaoke/singing mic, unless I use an 3.5" stereo cable. I think you are limited to 16bit 44khz audio when using wirelessly... otherwise you can do 24bit 48khz. Overall this will simply serve as an on the go, lightweight wireless podcast/interview mic, and maybe a stereo field recorder if I want to capture some stereo sounds/ambiance. I had some doubts about how a little microphone like this could handle some loud jam sessions, but it surprised everyone. It's very easy to use including the Android app, and it sounds great. It handles the drummer randomly deciding to go hard on his rimshots like a champ while also picking up on some of the more subtle noises in the guitar FX. For this price, this thing is a champion.
