  • Great tire. Grips great. Even on a old 77' CB550k
Size: 120/80-18
Put the tire on a 77' CB550k. Running the 120/-18. I love it so far. Even on a heavy old road bike, it really hangs on, pavement, gravel it's hard too break loose even in dirt-gravel.. Im slowly but surely riding an building my old brown beater CB550' four into a sort of trakker'/mild scrambler build with the bike. But it's also been my daily transport. And I'm also trying too keep it more of a budget build, this tire fit the part, it's not no show bike an I ride all over, an anywhere I can hold it. Just a good old hop on an go Honda and this tire actually helped it hold the pavement better.. works better then the old Dunlop/Kenda 5.10" vintage style road tread it had. Went About 500 miles so far, an it don't care. Even with a bit of oil seeping outta engine, or gas from carbs before I re-did the top end an carbs, it didn't care. What I love about the tire, looks great. Feels great, grips great, cost is great.. And when my buddy's are on and Enduro, and wanna cut across a grass field, pipeline, or gravel an dirt fire road.. I don't haveta worry 'as much.. about taking a slide. Vs. other tires, and road tires. They say it's a 70/30, 70 on, 30 off-road. And I'd go as much too say it's a 90/40.. it grips fantastic on pavement. Even first 5mins of a rain storm I thought for sure I'd feel it get loos..but nope.. And it really let's the bike respond quick in corners. Probably since it's only a 120/ wide. But can't beat it, an especially for the price. I heard issues of humming, vidration because of the knobby style. But even on the cb550 road bike, I really didn't notice it till about 90..100.. But I rarely get up past a Ton. I'm usually cruising small towns, and back narrow road a corners about 40-75mph. And it's fine. And I'm riding everything from our smooth pavement, too gravel, dirt, grass trails. I really am amazed at how nice it handles on pavement on a road bike, that's just an old Honda too get around. For looks, it looks good, but a bit skinny. But it is on a CB550..Though it measures about 5", ruler flat on tire , edge of knob to edge.. after buying an putting on, and riding. I can't see buying any other tire for a daily, or hard riding bike. I couldn't see spending 180,200$ especially after riding beaters, and wrenching on bikes my hole life. And after getting this tire for 66$ shipped. And changed easy. Lubed it up good with dish/car soap, new tube, little patience, an 2 good real tire irons, not old ground down screwdrivers it went on easy. If your an Enduro rider, and debating this vs. ie: a 50/50 tire, I would not hesitate too get this tire even though they say it's not a 50/50. it handles everything great, except for real wet, muddy stuff obiously. maybe because I've been riding dirt, street since I could. But either way. I love the tire. I don't ride hi-way hardly, maybe 1 exit too next.. but. So I can't speak for it's long-road travel manners. But if your just running around the back roads, mild commuting. You'll live it. For a rear tire. I'm curious too try the same tire on the front. But it wouldn't surprise me if it was as good or better then old 70's style road tires. ... show more

  • seven thousand street miles on The 705... Won't buy anything else

  • Good tires at a great price.
Size: 110/80R19
I've run Shinko tires almost exclusively on 4 different types of bikes for about 5 years now, and I always feel like I got my money's worth. This is my second set of 705 tires on a mid-sized adventure bike that does 80% street and 20% gravel and dirt forest roads with a water crossing and/or humongous mud hole here and there, and I am very happy with them. And by the way... OMG! Uber-fast shipping from Chaparral Motorsports. Considering the hassle it always is, I doubt if I could have driven to my local dealer and pulled them off the rack any quicker. Thanks, guys! ... show more

  • Great on gravel, meh on pavement.
Size: 110/80R19
Put this tire on my 2002 Vstrom 1000. Mounting was alright, but not the easiest to balance. Right off I noticed the difference in turn in on pavement. Feels like the bike is just falling over compared with the old metzler 90/10s. Pretty noisy tire too. But where it really shines is on gravel roads. Feels super planted, not washing out. ... show more

  • Great value tire, would not recommend
Size: 110/80R19
First let me say these tires are highly praised by many people online. Bang for the buck is really good all things considered. What you won't hear much of unless you go looking is that this tire is noisy! It howls between 35-45 and vibrates like a nobby. Maybe you won't notice this if you install on a dirt oriented bike that you want to use on the street, but putting this on the front of a street bike will be very noticeable. I installed this and matching rear on my Triumph tiger 800xr and couldn't wait to remove and replace them. They are loud and vibey. Also be warned that this tire has the tendency to "fall into" corners in a very unnatural way (only noticeable when the front is installed, rear rides like any other tire). Not sure why but there are numerous rider reviews that mention this and it is a little scary when you first encounter it. The grip is excellent on these though but that uneasy falling into a corner is just not something I wanted to get used to. I've replaced them with battlax a41 tires and it's a world of a difference. These may/will be better as a 50/50 tire so keep that in mind. I was wanting more of a 90/10 tire so these just didn't work out for me. Wish I could have realized that or read some more personal reviews before I wasted money on tires and mounting just to replace them less than 200 miles later. ... show more
