We purchased a couple of these, sharing them with a few relatives who are intense hikers. We also purchased for ourselves and our survival kit. We live on the oceanfront and put in our Tsunami bug out kit. It has the all important sharpener aspect, but also a fire starter. A whistle, etc. Husband reports that the sharpener works very well on his pocket knife collection. Win/win. We probably all need one of these! Small, compact and easy to carry or put into a kit. It’s better than you think it would be, it has instructions in quite a few languages which I think alone makes it worth it for more people. The whistle is pretty good, and the firestarter seems small but with just sliding it through the coarse sharpener as the instructions say, it’s pretty effective. Finally all the sharpeners are pretty good on the go, I put a decent edge on this messed up folding knife I found at the junkyard to test it out. I work on a farm and use my knife constantly. I love how little and handy this tool is. I keep it in my bag and bring it to work every day in case my knife is getting dull. Gets the job done!

    • Good Value Sharpening Kit
I wanted to find a knife sharpener that would work for my pocket knives. From the reviews, this seemed like a good option, and it was. For around the $10 I bought this for, I wouldn't argue about the price or quality. Quality-wise, this tool is fine and probably will not break any time soon. Value-wise, it's a bang for your buck. When it comes to sharpening, I think it does work to get some minor dent on the blade out and does seem to sharpen dull knives okay. It definitely won't make your knife the sharpest, but it will be plenty sharp for everyday use. It's neat that it comes with two sharpening levels; one for getting the dullness out, and one for fine sharpening the blade. I have no way to test the sharpness before and after, but I'm pretty sure I notice my knife cutting through paper and tape better than before. As for the fire starter, I haven't tested it, but there's a good chance it will probably work at least a few times. And for the whistle, it seems to work fine and is pretty loud. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive knife sharpener or multi-tool kit. ... show more

Not sure about all the negative reviews over the past month, but I bought one and think it's great. Look, it's a $10 multi tool/survival tool. Mostly plastic, but seems solid enough. Ran my belt knife and a couple pocket knives through it and it worked great. Tried whistle and it was plenty loud. For what is basically a pocket tool, it's a solid little device. Simple to use, but not made to last. Made in China material. Instructions say to hold it on a flat surface but the bottom of this has a slightly rounded surface so it’s not very stable when trying to sharpen knives.
