Back in the day, I had a set of melamine Asian-themed plates that I used constantly. After finding out that melamine wasn't the safest of materials (i.e., can't use them in the microwave), as well as general wear and tear, I was on the hunt for something to replace them. Enter Amazon, of course! These plates caught my eye - they are sturdy and cute as can be. Bright, vibrant, cheery colors, with a nice "heft" to them without being too heavy (or light). Great size too (I got the 9.5" size), good for pretty much everything. The only one of the set of 4 that was a bit "iffy" is the yellow one: it's overall color is uneven and a bit mottled, and the edges feel a bit rough. But it's not a game changer...they're covered with food most of the time, right? ;-) So far so good...will update my review if things happen to go sideways after some short term use. Happy little plates I know I will use a lot! ... show more

I LOVE my new plates. Each plate is vibrant blue, glossy and just plain delightful. They are not flimsy whatsoever and in fact have some weight to them. We have just finished a 5 month long total kitchen gut and installed new everything... walls, ceiling, floors, cupboards, countertops etc. So new plates fit the bill. Have to say, these are too nice to let sit in a cupboard for whenever, so I have also been using them as prep plates (washed veggies, chopped veggies, meat or fish for seasoning) any excuse to have them out and showing off their fabulousness! ... show more
