  • Better than my expectations, but then again not...
First of let me start by saying that i don't see anything wrong with this console. It's easy to carry around, and the box doesn't take up much space. I was already warned, that the console wasn't worth your money, but i purchased it anyway. However, i have come to like it more than i would have thought. First there's the 40 bonus games. Why would you even add these to a SEGA console? There not even SEGA games. But i just don't play any of the bonus games except maybe chess. Just forget about those games. I didn't notice anything bad with the music. But that would probably be because i never grew up with the original mega drive. But my main complaint's are the Mortal Kombat games. Mortal Kombat 1 is not a complete game because of the glitch in endurance 3. But i knew about this already before i brought this product. It was something i was prepared to accept. But then what a shock i had with MK2. The graphics were so bad and the controls weren't working. However i figured out that i had to set the controller to six button and the game was of course the SEGA version and not the better SNES version. Then i found out that MK3 looked real bad and i wondered why they didn't replace it with Ultimate MK3. Why do the pictures on the outside box look so good? Well, later i heard someone say that the pictures of MK1-3 are not of the SEGA version, but the arcade version. The controllers worked totally fine with the infrared. But i did have to point them at the console. To me they didn't seem cheap. But if you forget about these flaws, like i later did, the console isn't really that bad. It's a great deal cheaper than the new consoles and a great way to carry around a bunch of great SEGA games. Overall 7/10. 3 and a half Star out of five. • He always loved playing video games ever since pacman came out
My husband has dementia. He always loved playing video games ever since pacman came out. Getting this Sega Genesis console for him was one of the best things I could have done. He used to play these games and now he can again. He gets excited to play them and he is getting better and better everyday. Having the games included was a blessing. He was like a child at Christmas when I showed it to him. I have to make him stop and go to bed. Thank you soooooooooo much Sega Genesis. It is great for helping keep his mind occupied and hand/eye coordination. Thank you!!!!! ... show more

  • Multiplayer Only!
If you're planning on playing with a friend or a family member, then yeah this Sega will work for you. But if you're planning on beating the machine, you can forget about it. Something is definitely wrong with the system. The games are HARD AS SH*T!! They give you the option to change the difficulty, but it doesn't really change. On Mortal Kombat, you can set the difficulty to "very easy" and you would still be lucky to get past the first round. It's ridiculous. Unplayable! I'm so bumped out cause I was so excited to to play Mortal Kombat, but I guess I can forget about it. The graphics are okay; you'll get used to it. Same thing with the sound ... but the difficulty!!! Oh man! Also, you might wanna buy your own games cause the games that come with it suck! ... show more

  • LOVE this system
LOVE this system... feeds my nostalgic childhood thoughts. It plays very well! It also plays classic sega genesis cartridges. So if there's a game you loved playing that's not included it's ok you can purchase it elsewhere and continue the fun. For me it was street fighter, bubsy, and sunset riders. But the fact that it has all mortal kombats, all streets of rage, and sonic for this price it cannot be beat! I'm glad I got this one over the newer one that came out. This one is definitely better with the game selection. No regrets here at all for purchasing! ... show more

  • Decent, but get your own controllers.
Works fine and plays most sega games i own. The wireless controllers are completely useless. It uses infrared like on a TV remote, so you must hold the remote perfectly straight and there's still delay. Mortal Kombat ports are horrible, not the original cartridge quality. But all the other games built in, compatible with most original cartridges, and price (under 40) makes it a decent buy. ... show more

  • Fun
Very happy with this purchase, I seen a bunch of reviews about the controls not working properly I figured mine out that they have to be pointed at the device directly and need to only be a few feet apart. All around great purchase.

  • It's decent
It's decent as retro consoles go. My one gripe is the wireless controllers are infrared, which means LINE OF SIGHT only. But of a drag when you're playing and you move the wrong way. Good thing is it supports classic Sega controllers
