Technology is really something. I'm an electrical engineer, and I'm still amazed. What once cost hundreds of dollars is now selling for less than $30. I was impressed with the resolution, and the ability to continuously record onto an SD memory card. These are so easy to set up, using your local wi-fi and cell phone. The cost was so low I put several in my house, in different rooms. While on vacation, I was able to check on the condition of the house at any time, from a thousand miles away. Marvelous! Even at night, the quality of the picture was pretty good. The only quibble I have is the same thing I've seen in other brands - motion detection catches just about anything that happens, including changes in the light. So, for example, if there is a tree outside a window that moves with the wind, and the shadows in the room change, this will trigger motion detection, and start recording. Car headlights in the street outside? The same thing. That is why I turn off motion detection and record continuously. Because if you get an SD card of a decent size, you can hold roughly two days of video in the camera. And you don't want to get an alert on your phone every time the wind blows! Just in case you were wondering, continuous recording means it writes over the memory, starting at the beginning, so you always have two days of video. If you are gone for a week, you will have the last 48 hours recorded (or more, if you get a really big SD card!). Oh yes, the built in microphone and speaker are pretty great too! The sound quality is not very good, they could definitely improve that. But it will get the job done. If you need to tell a burglar to leave, or say hi to the house sitter, you can do that easily. In short, these cameras are pretty great. Not perfect, but this much capability for $30 is fantastic. The media could not be loaded. As a long-term user of security camera systems, I found WGV to be the first one to consistently deliver quality build and decent footage. Although it's not a 5-star product (I'll explain later), I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a home security camera system. Living in a safe community doesn't exempt us from the occasional undesirable activities, and I take the security of my family and belongings seriously. Having experienced multiple camera systems, I feel confident in endorsing the WGV product. What appeals to me most about the WGV system is its consistent build quality. I verify this by disassembling every camera I receive to remove the microphones. Though I'm fine with the idea of WGV watching my front door and my package delievery box, I'm not comfortable with being listened to, given potential privacy issues. While WGV hasn't given me any reason to distrust them, I'm just not willing to fully extend my trust to any organization outside of the United States that handles sensitive data as my private conversations with my family willingly or openly. Inside each camera, you'll find a wire labeled 'MIC' that you can disconnect easily. While removing the microphone isn't difficult, it does take some time initially. Over time, however, you'll become more adept at it. I strongly recommend this step for anyone concerned about privacy. The cameras also provide 2K resolution footage, which is a noticeable step up from the 1080p footage of other systems. Unfortunately, there are times (around 30% of my experiences) when the playback of an event doesn't provide a clear view of the person or movement triggering the alert. This could potentially be remedied by upgrading to a 24-hour recording plan. I'm pleased with the remote accessibility feature and the ability to view multiple cameras simultaneously. There's a nifty feature called "Play Video in Small Window", which lets you keep a small, real-time feed active on your Android device while you navigate other apps. While I don't utilize the night vision setting because my property is well-lit, it's a handy feature for those who might need it. A minor issue I've noticed is the cameras occasionally resetting themselves, presumably due to a power surge. The most significant downside is the app's inability to let me order my camera feeds as I'd prefer. Despite trying different approaches, it seems that once you've added a certain number of cameras, adjusting the sequence becomes nearly impossible. The WGV security camera system is a budget-friendly and reliable choice for home security. With its high-quality footage, easy remote accessibility, and privacy protection, it delivers value for its cost. Its drawbacks, such as occasional playback issues and a less user-friendly app, are minor compared to its advantages. This camera is amazing!!! I use it to check in on my dogs during the day when I’m at work ! There is a motion sensor that sends alerts to your phone anytime something moves. It also records the motion and has night vision. I love the intercom feature and that I you can control the movement of the camera from your phone. This unit is an excellent value - at least as of a couple days of ownership. However, it's been a couple days and have not heard back from customer service regarding getting these cameras registered for the warranty coverage. I tried two different email links regarding my order number not being recognized when entered for said warranty. Update: The next day I heard back from customer service stating they had registered my products for me!! Problem resolved! ... show more
