  • Good, with caveats
Configuration: Single
I bought two of these to replace a couple aging displays, one of which was starting to have issues after nearly 5 years of heavy use. I didn't initially want curved monitors, but chose these because the price was right for the monitor size, refresh rate, and overall look. These are my impressions after using them for about 2 months: Pros: - 75hz at 1080p* - Thin bezels - Physically, they look REALLY good - After adjusting color, everything looks good (you REALLY need to do this though) Neutral: - See that asterisk by the refresh rate? This is the first caveat. If you use a "non-standard" cable, then you get 60hz max refresh rate. In this case, "non-standard" means any cable where the ends don't match - HDMI/DisplayPort was locked to 60hz if you wanted the monitor to work, and DisplayPort/DVI failed entirely. I thought it was a bad pair of monitors at first, until I tried straight HDMI. I now have one on HDMI and one on DisplayPort, both correctly working at 75hz according to Windows. - The buttons to navigate the monitor menu are pretty bad, but not unusable - The back panel is pretty ugly - but lets be honest, you never see that anyways - Personally, I can't really notice the curve unless looking at the bezel. This is potentially a Pro. - They have built in speakers that I've never used - One of my monitors has odd backlighting issues only visible when the panel wakes up - Panel quality leaves a bit to be desired, but lets face it, this is a budget monitor. I knew what I was getting into. Cons: - No VESA mount screws included. I have these up on arms now, but I had to buy the screws from Lowes. - Colors out of the box varied wildly between monitors - Minor gripe, but the on/off lights flash while the monitor is asleep. They're not super bright at least - Bad monitor hum. I thought it was my speakers at first, but when I checked, it was coming from the back of the panel. I sit fairly close to my monitors, so I'm now getting very noticeable monitor hum in stereo. If you work in a quiet environment, it WILL drive you nuts. - Godawful power bricks. WHY they didn't use the standard plug-end is beyond me, or use a smaller brick, but this section deserves it's own bullet points: - It's short - It's proprietary - The brick itself is MASSIVE. I use a battery backup unit and each brick takes up the space of two plugs. Despite the cons above, I'm still giving this monitor 4 stars. This is because all the cons con be compensated for, and none are deal-breakers for me (except maybe the monitor hum, but I have headphones, and rarely work in a truly quiet environment). Honestly, for budget monitors, these are pretty good. Well priced 1080p, 24", thin bezeled, greater-than 60hz monitors are rare beasts. If the above cons aren't deal-breakers for you, then I'd absolutely recommend these monitors. ... show more

  • Great Screen
Configuration: Single
Setup of this monitor is a breeze. Using the included screw driver to attach the base couldn’t be any easier. Plus, Sceptre’s screwdriver is practically legendary now, it will certainly find a home in your tool box. The stand looks nice and offers decent vertical tilt. There is no swivel or height adjustment, but that is expected at this price. An HDMI cable is included as well. The screen uses VA technology, which has excellent color reproduction and even better contrast. For daily tasks like work and media consumption, it’s very pleasing. The 75hz refresh rate is also a nice step up from the standard 60hz. Moving the mouse around the screen and scrolling long webpages and news feeds is noticeably smoother. The curved screen is nice and wide and 1080p is a good resolution for a 24 inch screen. Any bigger and text begins to look less crisp. My criticisms of the monitor extend to the marketing. Sceptre is advertising this as a monitor for Gaming, which I believe is a mistake. VA screens simply do not have the ability to keep up with fast paced action. Compared to TN panels, the screen will look noticeably more blurry when you rotate quickly in game. The 5ms response time is far behind even other budget screens that offer 1ms response times and Free Sync, which is absent on this panel. If you want a panel for gaming and are good at bargain hunting, you can find a 144hz screen, with a 1ms response time and FreeSync for not much more money. Sceptre has several panels that fit those specs, which I have also reviewed. In conclusion, this really is a great monitor for daily use, especially in the new work from home era. • Meh
Configuration: Single
I already have one of the C248W-1920R's and it's a decent monitor. The built-in speakers are horrible quality, but I would recommend external speakers anyway. I ordered another of the same monitor from this listing and was sent the C248 Business Pro that is priced $100 less than this model. Be careful when ordering that you receive the correct item and don't overpay. They also don't offer exchanges, only refunds. ... show more
