I have been waiting a long time for this monitor (price, performance, size, aesthetics, multifunction, and sturdy). Pros: > Most important: no scratches / blemishes; no dead pixels; all hardware in the box (white in color); nothing broken; and arrive on time (in the original, King-Kong box); DP cable, wall mount, and screwdriver included. Gorgeous monitor – Sceptre has been doing their homework… > Price: when compared to others in the category of above 120Hz and size – it is a beautiful purchase at $600usd. I was considering the Alienware 38” at $1400usd – but I need to save for a video card??? > Performance: everything that is advertised (165Hz down to 30Hz) depending on your hardware and configuration (video settings). I’m testing a Quadro RTX 4000 and RTX 2080. The Quadro will do max 165Hz at native resolution on a Display Port (DP) 4k cable; the 2080 will do 165Hz on the same cable (the max number is 144Hz on HDMI 2.0). Note: this monitor can do 4k 60Hz (hardware and software dependent). And if both DP ports are used - one will default to 120Hz. The native resolution = 1440p and 60/120Hz. Internal power supply. >> Gaming vs. Professional Use: I would wait for more technical reviews. I tested Solid Edge 2020 on Quadro (no real difference – except getting use to the curve – which is a welcome surprise). The color accuracy is better than the BenQ 32”/60Hz I’m coming from. Then I tested Forza Horizon 4 on the RTX 2080 – which is pure joy (above 100 FPS in max settings – would probably do better if I mess with the Nvidia and Windows settings). Not going to give a tech review… > I Recommend: that you start with the Nvidia 460 branch drivers for this experience. I had problems with the newer 470 stuff on my older equipment (unless you have deep, scalper pockets and brought a 3000 series card). Sorry AMD peeps – I have no advice for you on drivers. > Size: this thing ate my desktop fast – but is absolutely gorgeous. Recommend: wall mount (75 x 75 mm) if you are low on space. BTW – the company put a wall-mount-adapter in the box (very nice, sturdy one). I sit 3 feet from the screen – so I don’t care anymore… it’s like a 3D movie now. > Aesthetics: my desktop is a cloud-white theme with silver accents everywhere – so, I’m definitely love-joy with this monitor. Yes, the LEDs on the back are timely - no night time glare across the room or walls. The monitor has a gloss finish – very nice in gaming, movies, and photos. The curve is trippy, beautiful, get use to it stuff… I am Very Satisfied in this category. > Multifunction: Picture in Picture (PNP), Picture by Picture (PBP) – both work like this monitor was built for these functions. I mean: the FPS and smoothness is incredible (probably because I come from lesser means). The remote is fast and functional – the On-Screen-Display (OSD) is fluid – easy to figure out. > Sturdy: the build quality is exceptional – considering the price; nothing jitters or feels flimsy – this is a very sturdy assembly. Multi-position = up/down, rotate left/right, tilt up/down – with every component remaining rigid (obedience); I gave it the “desk-shake” test – it was minimal movements. Cons: (Actual Warnings) > Bring your own speakers (final warning). I went with the SANYUN brand – with USB-powered, blue LEDs (perfect). The built-in speakers struggle. > Do not underestimate the size. This monitor will sit 10 inches from the wall on its original stand. It is a true (16:9 aspect ratio and 38.5 inches diagonal) huge … monitor. > UPDATE: make sure you set the monitor to HDR before you set the NVidia control panel to HDR. I still don't see much difference in color and brightness - unless I run HDR content (which is minimal). Hope this helps… ... show more

    • Amazing for me
I bought this as my first new monitor in a good handful of years. I am your average white setup, Ikea countertop + Alex drawers game enjoyer. I watched TONS of videos on the "best" monitor and was actually really skeptical of getting this since I wasn't familiar with the brand name. I am NOT a professional gamer, streamer, video editor, etc. I just use this to play games casually for several hours each day. I wanted to write this review for people like me that are kind of lost in the monitor details and don't really care about the finer details. This monitor is pretty big with a gentle curve. It's enough to be noticed, but not enough to feel like you're sitting at the arcade. All of the settings out of the box were great for me. I do not notice text looking weird, or graphics ghosting on the screen. It's big enough for me to comfortably watch TV across the room if there's competition for use of my actual TV. The biggest item I want to bring attention to is the mount. You can mount this on the wall, which I'm planning on doing, but it comes with a regular desk mount. The space on this is HUGE. If you're also rocking some Ikea counter tops, this thing takes up about 50% of the width, meaning you're sitting up CLOSE to this large monitor. Plan accordingly! I've played Overwatch, Minecraft, FFXIV, and Subnautica on it so far and everything is bright, clear, crisp, and responsive. Overall I'm extremely happy with this. I'm fairly certain my husband is jealous of it. It looks great with my white setup and makes me feel kind of posh. I'll probably buy a small side monitor for this just for discord or Spotify and will check out this brand's other size offerings first before going elsewhere. ... show more

    • Surprisingly good for the price.
It sucks finding out after you've owned something a while that it isn't working out. I had (still have) the Nebula 44. Outstanding monitor. But the Ultra Too Wide thing isn't for everyone. I tried. It was amazing for space games but I started wanting about the same width, but more vertical real estate to work with. So the Nebula C40 being traditional aspect ratio but close to the same width made the most sense. Added bonus? I'm not up on top of my monitor. I sit about 2 feet away. At this distance (I mean I'm using it now) you can't see any pixels or anything. You have to get kinda close to notice it's not 4K. The big thing is noticing the extra 20-40FPS I get over a 4K display. 2K is a nice sweet spot for folks coming from 1080P gaming monitors. I did have some light ghosting. It is a VA panel. But their own "Overdrive" setting set to "high" seems to have taken care of it. Freesync works perfectly with my 6800xt. I like 144hz because the card can actually do it in most games, so I stick with HDMI, but be warned you can't hit the really high refresh numbers unless you use the SUPPLIED (yes supplied) DP cable. The HDR is scary good. Do yourself a favor and find it in settings and turn it on. The little included remote is always a nice touch. This is now my third Sceptre monitor. The first one had a sad accident. The second one is still amazing, just not great for some games where you want more vertical real estate. And I guess this one is about perfect. My only gripe is the screen is a little shiny. The curve helps remove a lot of glare, but there is some. I might drop 50 bucks on a 39" anti-glare film. They have them here. The big reason to pick this one over say, that great deal they have on a 4K monitor from last year, is refresh rate. The best you are going to find in a 40" 4K screen around 500 bucks is 60hz. You might luck out and find 75hz. You aren't going to find even 100hz for less than a grand in a 40" or bigger 4K display right now. I don't notice much difference over 100hz personally but eyes differ. 60hz is a deal killer for me. Only other weirdness, in picture settings they have a "normal" setting that's absolutely terrible. But if you roll it to "user" where you can change settings, and change NOTHING, it looks amazing. It's almost as if they figured out later that their "normal" setting was horrible, so added a decent User default. I tweaked the defaults a little. Max brightness, contrast at 55, HDR on, etc. Overdrive made a huge difference in FPS games. Hope this helps. ... show more
