Scavenger hunts are fun. Drawing is fun. Put them together for ★ SCAVENGER ART ★This unique art-based activity book includes 52 scavenger hunts designed to✓ encourage curious minds ✓ spark creativity ✓ practise mindfulness ✓ develop drawing skillsPerfect for ages 6 to 10.WHAT REVIEWERS ARE SAYING "This book is perfect for use both at home – inside on a rainy day, or outside searching – or at school – in a classroom setting it can be scaled up for use inside by a whole class, or on the school grounds. 52 new scavenger hunts, with guides on how and where to look for items to draw, together with hints on perspective, the use of lighting, shape and colour." The School Reading List “Scavenger Art is a terrific activity book for ages 6-12. It really does cater for all of this vast age range in a fun, exploratory way that fits art and questions together in challenges.” Bookmarks and stages “What a wonderful book! It’s easily accessible and adaptable for any circumstances, age, or even weather. An ideal present, this fun book would be appreciated by any child who loves to draw. Invaluable for both parents and educators, there are hours of enjoyment to be had within its pages.” Art teacher “It’s perfect for rainy days when the kids are looking for something to do. Even though it’s aimed at 6- to 12-year- olds, I think adults could get a lot out of the mindfulness aspect. I know I have. Scavenger Art would make a great present for any child you know with a creative and curious mind.” Novel Kicks book blogger “I know many parents are searching for ways to reduce their children’s screen time, trying to find ways to keep their little ones occupied outside and inside, Scavenger Art is the perfect solution. This is such a unique and fun idea and one that would keep children and adults occupied for many an hour.” Early years practitioner “This book is something very unique and will make a great gift for an artistic and craft loving child aged 7-12. To be fair, I think anyone who likes to doodle, jot or draw would find delight in this.” Like Herding Cats book blogger “I find this to be the perfect resource for families and groups of children alike; if you have a fussy eater you can head to the Food section to get your child talking, thinking, handling and trying foods in order to do the activities. For the Outdoors section you get a chance to introduce children to parts of the outside world they may not have been exposed to yet. The topics will feed curious minds and start up conversations you couldn’t imagine having with young children, making it a truly valuable book which I feel belongs in every home, setting and office which focuses on children.” Childcare professional “Art is no different to English or Maths in that the skills need to be explicitly taught. There’s so much to be gained from children watching an adult model the drawing process whilst they narrate the steps and Scavenger Art lends itself beautifully to adult and child working together.” Primary school teacher Read more

  • Fun book that will teach kids to love drawing
I bought this book as a gift for a friend's kids and they love it. It has a lot of fun prompts from all areas of life, so there's something for every kid to get inspired by. It encourages kids to think creatively and also helps to improve their drawing skills because they learn now to draw at a smaller scale to fit in the designated space. The illustrations are great too! Really wonderful book all around. ... show more

  • A good boredom buster
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Scavenger Art puts scavenger hunts and art together. It’s a great book that will give kids something fun to do while teaching them creativity. What a great book to get for bored children during the holidays, summer vacation, or a lockdown. The book has several sections: My House, My Stuff, Outside, People, Faces & Bodies, Nature, Eating, and Birds, Insects, & Animals. Each section lists instructions for a scavenger hunt and a page to draw 9 pictures of items found. This is a great book that will keep kids entertained for hours. I’m going to have to get one for my grandkids when they’re a little older! ... show more

  • A great addition to any home or school resource set!
*I received a free copy of this book with thanks to the author and Rachel Gilbey at Rachel’s Random Resources blog tours. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.* Mr Shine and the little beams are all keen on a spot of drawing – my forte lies more with words than pictures! – so they were all very excited to receive the latest activity book from the talented Lexi Rees. The book contains page after page of prompts, for items to find and draw: objects inside and outside; personal possessions; nature; animals; foods; clothing; people; body parts… you name it and this book has a page of drawing prompts for it! Each prompt page has a corresponding 9 square grid (we chose to partition sheets of paper instead, to keep the book reusable) and the idea is that the child/ren scout around the vicinity, trying to find examples that fit the category theme and then draw them in a square until they’ve filled the grid. Perfect for party games, days out, long car journeys or rainy day entertainment, you can use this book over and over again – children, teens and adults – to hone your drawing skills or just to have a bit of fun. Minishine and Mr Shine got quite absorbed in competing for who could draw items of clothing the quickest and whose drawings look the best. Babybows and I are far less competitive (and a little lazy) and so we enjoyed just quietly leafing through the book and chatting about what we could see to fit each category, without the effort of picking up a pencil! I have reviewed other resource books by Lexi Rees (see The Book Dragon Club and Wicked Writing Skills) and would wholeheartedly recommend any and all of them for entertaining and engaging children with art and literacy skills respectively. A great addition to any home or school resource set! Review by Steph Warren of Bookshine and Readbows blog ... show more

  • Cute book, crummy paper
The book is cute but not what I was really looking for. Wish there had been some better pix of the inside before I bought it. The paper seems like it would bleed easily or smear with certain drawing tools. Overall the book is a great idea - but execution could be better.
