I think this would probably be a 4.5, but it’s better than a 4 so I’m giving it a 5. Starting with the cons first (shorter list): - when the battery dies there is no warning (as far as I can tell) - it uses a scangrip-specific charging cable (would prefer micro usb or swapable batteries) - kind of part of the above, would be nice if you could swap batteries, but that’s not a big deal given the price point and size/weight - the handsfree feature is very nice and generally detects things pretty much right in front of the light, but when you do activate it sometimes it sees my hand twice when I wave over it so it turns on and then off. Also I think smoke may turn it on/off (for anyone that smokes). - another minor thing: the beam pattern is great, but it would be nice if I could adjust it a bit since it shines in people’s eyes when you are talking to them. Pros: - light pattern is great! Super wide and totally consistent - the two light settings are pretty much ideal for me. One is light enough to do most things and the high is pretty much as high as I would want a headlight to be for anything - super light weight, good balance - super small - charge time/battery life is OK (6 hrs low, 4 hrs high with like a 3 hour charge time I think?), but given the overall weight I think it’s great. Any more battery and it would need to put it behind your head to balance it out. - the strap is nice and wide/comfy. The bit that goes against your forehead is a piece of foam which I like more than my old one which was the strap itself. After a couple years and all the sweat it got pretty disgusting. I think this foam is easier to wipe off/won’t absorb the sweat like the strap would. - charging indicator light is nicely done, could be a bit brighter but well incorporated - water resistant and pretty durable. These are definitely nice things to have when you’re working in a shop. All in all I love it. Think it was a great deal. Would definitely buy from scangrip again. I do like to detail my car with a headlamp but the light is very clear and I wouldn’t really need the “true color” version. Very happy!

I bought one of these for my husband and we use it all the time. It’s rechargeable but it last for a long time so it doesn’t spend much time on the charger. We love it so much I bought one for my brother for Christmas.

Used the headlamp at night in the garage for car detailing it was quite useful. My initial experience trying to use it during the day in the garage is that it did not help all that much but I have changed my opinion. Detailing the wheels and the interior at night using this headlamp made the job so much easier. The interior of my Porsche 3RS consists of black leather and Alcantara and I was able to treat the leather and vacuum the interior and see what I was doing. It definitely is an important adjunct to my car detailing armamentarium.

I am an aircraft mechanic and the older I get the worse my eye sight has gotten. I have tried lots of headlamps because I was tired of holding my flashlight in my mouth. This is by far the most comfortable and useful headlamp I have used. It is plenty bright with a great broad cast of light and the motion on and off switch is helpful in many situations although sometimes I turn it off or on by accident just moving my hands in front of it so most of the time I just leave it on. By far the most useful tool I have bought in a long time.

After reading the reviews on this we decided to order 1 to test for our detailing shop. We are ordering another after using! Works excellent for interior detailing, the light extends your full vision within the vehicle. Light is bright and band stays on head well. We found for exterior it was not helpful, works better in a confined space.

Good quality and function. My garage is dim and I use it to work on the car. the headlamp is not powerful enough to illuminate the engine bay nor strong enough for any detailing work.

Great tool. I am a body and fenderman by trade. I use it to see instead of a flashlight in my mouth. Nice tool and rechargable too.
