I bought two Sauder Palladia executive desks (for me and my wife), and three matching Sauder Palladia bookshelves with Wind Oak finish. We put the desks back-to-back in the center of the room. They have routing holes for cables coming up from the middle. And some items can be put in the "secret" back door. The desks are beautiful but took a lot of work to assemble. I hired someone skilled to assemble them. Working hard it took the assembler over 3 hours for each. Detailed instructions are included which make assembly clear - it just takes time with all the nice decorative parts. Everything fits together very precisely. All the drawers are on roller sliders for smooth operation. Each side has three drawers, and the top middle drawer has a fold down front that allows it to be a keyboard drawer. My wife and I didn't want that and instead purchased a drawer organizer since the smooth finish meant objects slide around easily. The top drawer is slightly over 24" wide, so the two of the 12" wide CAXXA organizers fit perfect side by side. The top drawer on each side is shallow for important documents and office supplies. The middle drawer is taller for larger items. And the bottom drawer on each side handles hanging folders. With the spacious folder capacity of the desks, from two drawers, we got rid of our file cabinets. We still archive some old documents in file boxes in the storage room. The finish on these Sauder desks and bookshelves is holding up great. These desks and the bookshelves really give our office a great rich beautiful look. ... show more

Once together, the desk is a beautiful, sturdy peace of furniture. There were a few installation steps that were lacking (I had to carve out an area in one of the ornamental pieces to get the front panel to fit, because the earlier step didn't show where the ornamental piece should line up. Should it be flush with the side or overhang a bit--turns out it should overhang! Two hours later, I'm not going to disassemble to realign that piece!). Installation took about 7 hours in total by myself. I should also note that the desk arrived with the most important part--the desktop--terribly damaged. I filled out a quick form on the Sauder website and a new one free of charge arrived in a week or so. ... show more

Desk looks great after assembly. The assembly I worn you is very time consuming and the pieces are heavy so two people are needed for the job. I was very organized and followed all the instructions but still had a minor issue, one of the file drawers would not slide into the desk once assembled. I had to cut one of the pieces because the back of the drawer was wider then the front by about 1/4 inch. This is the main reason I rated this desk a 4. Overall I am happy with my purchase and the people who have seen it could not believe I assembled the desk. Looks like it was delivered in one piece. Desk is solid but falling apart. The Paint is peeling drawers on one side dont slide right its a design flaw and the plastic is peeling around the edge of desk (edging). I like sauder but this product is a disappointment. They offered to send replacement parts but who wants to go through all of that. ... show more

This was a difficult project to assemble. The company was very good with phone support and shipping a missing part. But it was stll a multi-day project, not for the faint hearted. Once assembled, it looked good and suited my needs. I was quite satisfied. But now, slightly over a year after assembly, it is not in good shape. The product has shifted: drawers no longer ride smoothly in the guides; parts are becoming disattached from their moorings. And in several places the veneer is peeling from the wood. I'll tough it through for a while longer, but I expect to get maybe another year before it will be necessary to replace it. While I thought the price fair initially, this was a lot of money to spend for, and a lot of effort to assemble, what's become a two year rental. ... show more

I like the desk, it looks nice and it’s sturdy. Ion not a fan of press board but I can tolerate it because on the outside it looks cool. I’ve built my share of solid wood furniture and my only complaint is I wish the drawers were more heavy duty. Be prepared for two things: it’s heavy as hell so unless you got a friend to help you carry it in or a dolly then you will have to take it inside in pieces. Second it takes time, I have experience and a drill but it still took 5 hours. With that said I found that it to be very precise in how the hardware and screw holes lined up almost perfectly. ... show more

It's a great solid desk and it's definitely worth the work. The instructions are very simple, but there are a lot of steps. My advice is to give yourself a good week and take your time with it. You'll be happy with the end result.

I bought the desk for my home office, and once assembled it looks very nice and is sturdy. However, the assembly was a 7 hour project with several hurtles along the way. We ended up drilling multiple holes because the factory ones were misaligned. The instructions were vague in many places, and not all the components were correctly marked if at all. The delivery, although on time, was a clearly damaged box and relatively poor packaging from the gate. That said, the damage was limited to areas unseen after assembly. ... show more
