  • Not a great choice
The desk is nice looking and good quality for the money. But the assembly was ridiculously complicated and time consuming. It took 6 hours to assemble and the instructions are difficult yet to understand. Not again.

  • Nice desk but time consuming to assemble
I'll go into more detail below, but the main things you should be aware of is that this desk is very time consuming to assemble, should be assembled in the room it's meant to be in (instead of trying to move it) and will take less time if you have a helper to screw in the many, many screws. In the end, once assembled, it is pretty nice desk for the price, but you 'pay' for the cheap price by having to invest your own time. Mine arrived with a piece of trim that was broken in half, a giant dent in the main desk surface and another board with a huge scratch on it. Sauder makes it relatively easy to get replacement pieces via their website. It took about 7 days to receive the replacement pieces (free of charge). The material of the desk is veneer over particle board, which is really heavy. I am a generally 'handy' person but the assembly of this desk was quite a task. It took me about 10 hours (by myself) to fully assemble this. The instructions are very detailed and accurate, but it's a RIDICULOUS number of screws and steps. My main issue is with the overall design of the parts... I feel like they could have gotten rid of like half the assembly steps if they came up with a better design to get everything to stick together. It's not difficult to assemble, it's just time consuming. As some others have mentioned, many of the parts do not come with any label on them - so you have to guess based on the pictures. I would highly recommend having at least one person help you with the assembly... there are a ton of screws that need to be screwed into various pieces that they can be working on while you're assembling the other parts. Once assembled the thing is a bit of a beast and I'm not sure that it would hold up well if you tried to move it without at least partial disassembly. All-in-all I'm pleased with the final product, but if I could do it again I would've invested more money into a desk that was more expensive but required less time to assemble. ... show more

  • cheep laminate product
I have had this desk for about a month or 2 Right from the start I noticed a problem with the cheep and laminate peeling off of the particle board on the desk For the price I paid I would expect a better quality product I would return, but this is a very large item when assembled My guess it will last until the end of the year and then I will have to throw it away ... show more

  • Traditional Decor
Given the previous reviewer's negative warnings against this desk, we paused before purchasing. But I'm glad we went ahead and ordered. We chose the dark color because it is reminiscent of the office decor in stores like Ballard Designs. We chose the color that looks black in the marketing photos, but it's a very dark chocolate brown in person (see photo). The desk comes in two heavy flat boxes. Because the previous reviewer complained of assembly time and noted having to hire a professional to assemble the desk and still didn't achieve a completed desk many hours later, I decided to keep track of how long our own assembly would take. In total, our assembly with no professional help took 6 hours. It was built mainly by my spouse, while I stood by with snacks, jokes, and moral support. The result is a desk that is much higher quality than its price point. In theory, the buyer adds their own value through personal assembly, which is a practical, price-conscious selling point that is defeated if you pay a professional hundreds of dollars to build it for you. Overall, we love the new desk. A few of the parts were missing labels, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to match the picture in the instruction booklet to the part in question. As long as you don't expect to have an assembled desk as soon as it's delivered, it's a great option for the price. Treat it like a game or a puzzle, and I think you will be pleased. ... show more

  • Broken Part "C"
Purchased 2 of these desks for our new office, however once we opened them and started putting them together we noticed the on both of the desks Part "C" had a big gash on them.

  • It's alright...not great but alright...
The desk itself is good quality but the drawers not so much. My top drawer broke by just opening it the same day if assembly. But I like the desk so I'm going to get a piece of matching or close to matching piece of wood from home depot and make it into a cubby hole. But to people who can't do something like that be cautious. But overall the desk itself is good quality. The drawers are not the greatest but not to bad either. I only had an issue with the one drawer. ... show more

  • Decent purchase
I looked at many desks and decided on this in black. Overall, the desk is nice. It was easy enough to build. I wish I had done my research a little more when it came to the finish. It's very nice if you wipe it down often. I've learned to use coasters since it leaves condensation if a mug or glass sits directly on the table top. I like that you can build to suite and adjust the direction of the sides to fit your space. Overall, decent purchase for the price. ... show more

  • Neat desk but reader beware
I thought I was doing a solid for my company buy purchasing this desk because of its extremely nice price point but boy let me tell you, what I saved on the desk, we lost in hourly labor to assemble this monstrosity. Looks awesome but you need a small army and extremely strong people to move this
