It’s... a bookcase. A very cheap bookcase. It works. It’s okay. It’s the fast food of bookcases. It’s laminated / veneered particle board and straight up thin cardboard in the back. No pre-drilled holes (which is part I dislike most) so it takes two people to hold the pieces steady while the other uses all their muscle to screw in the screws. If you mess up, it splits the board. Seems like it is holding up nicely, looks like the picture. Assembly is easy, make sure to line up the pieces before hand and make sure they mirror each other or it will be wonky (The holes on the top and bottom in the A pieces aren't the same distance from the edge, they sort of have a secret top and bottom this isn't clear until you put it together wrong.) ... show more

The prices continue to rise and the colors change. It's hard to match bookcases purchased 5-yrs ago with what is available now but I found something very close. I have quite a few books lined up now along one wall and one bookcase for a "kitchen pantry" and another for storage tins. With living on disability in a federally-assisted apartment, storage is at a premium and these bookcases really help. ... show more

Nice looking bookcase for the price. Wood was darker than shown in photo for mahogany color with more brown and no red rones. It is more like a deep cherry wood. Was somewhat disappointed that the backing is cardboard and not wood particle board however since I am storing books it is not noticeable. The item is quite sturdy and easy to assemble. This product was very easy to assemble. The instructions were very clear and concise. The only thing I would change is the back of the unit, as it is just a piece of cardboard. But considering it is up against a wall and out of view I guess it does not matter. I have been looking for something that would match my Dark Cherry Closetmaid storage cubes. This Saunder Cherry bookcase matches perfectly. Also it fits my storage containers ( Univivi Fabric Storage Bins [4-Pack] Foldable Storage Cubes with Lids and Handles Closet Organizer for Shelves, Bedroom, Home (Gray, 15.4''x11.8''x10.2'') ). This is for a playroom so I didn't want to spend alot but wanted something sturdy. The bookcase is held together with 8 long screws. When putting them in make sure you are screwing into the middle of the piece, if not you will end up with cracks. My boyfriend needed a bookshelf for all of his tall RPG books, and this bookshelf definitely fit the script. It's also sturdy once assembled, and the wood is good quality. My only problem is covering the screws. The bookcases I own have different screw covers to insert into the screws. However, this one has stickers that do not stick. Therefore, the screws are showing. I recently catalogued my personal book collection and was running short of space. I didn't need a large bookcase and only had a small space to put one. Thank you, Sauder, for making this small space bookcase that fit perfectly into the space I had for it. The adjustable shelves are another great feature. For those who don't like the pressed board makeup of Sauder furniture, I can only say that for their purpose they work great. Just don't move them frequently or take them apart a lot-doing so stresses the piece and the ability for the screws to stay tight. ... show more
