  • Slight changes from the Kinvara 12 are not necessarily for the better, esp. the narrower toe box
Size: 10.5 Color: Campfire Story
After burning through several pairs (5?) of the Kinvara 12, and now four runs (5-6+ miles each, nothing longer yet) into this pair of 13s, I'm not sure I love all of the changes. Aesthetically, it's a very good looking shoe. The orange is bright but more muted than the orange used in the Kinvara 12. I also like the tie-dye interior and cuff, but am no so sure about the plastic tongue pull, which isn't necessary and could rub or chafe with short socks. Two things I notice about the 13 and don't love are that the upper material is thicker and heavier and the toe box is narrower. For some these may be positive changes, for my preference they are not. I like a very minimal shoe, both for weight and to provide a sock-like feel in the upper. I wear my running shoes very loose, as for whatever reason I experience pain in my outer metatarsal, especially the left foot, from a tight shoe. When I first started running more many years ago I twice experienced stress fractures before realizing that I needed to lace very loosely. For this reason both the thicker material and the tighter toe box, but particularly the combination of the two, is not ideal. I lace these about as loosely as possible and I'm still finding rubbing around my little toe and the outside of my foot. My hope is that these go away after breaking in a bit more, and, if they do, I may yet up my rating. For now I find that they are still more to my preferences than anything else I've found, and I like the way they look, but I wish they'd retained the wider toe and more minimal upper materials of the prior version, at least based on these initial runs. In terms of response, stability, cushion, bounce, and road feel, I find these similar to the 12s, but I admit I've never been the best judge of these characteristics in a shoe. I typically only notice of a shoe's soul is too stiff or heavy, and neither of those is an issue here. ... show more

  • A minor upgrade
Size: 11 Color: Black/Silver
I had bought the Kinvara 12, 6 months ago and was very satisfied. Naturally the next edition aroused curiosity and made the purchase. There is very little difference in the middle and the outside, practically same. The upper is different, more breathable and stretchable. It feels a bit lighter compared to the 12th edition. I could have saved $30 and bought the 12th again. Nevertheless, it is a great shoe for my needs. I run about 15km per week and hope to get better. ... show more

  • Pretty nice, but wish they were a bit cheaper
Size: 9.5 Color: Campfire Story
I bought these shoes after reading lots of reviews on jogging-related websites. Pretty happy with them, but I had to re-order a bigger size, than I ordered initially. So I suggest you first try them somewhere, though unfortunately it's a rare find in offline shops.

  • Back for Kinvara Again!
Size: 10 Color: Blue Raz/Black
I've been running in the Kinvara model for several years. They're light, durable, and most important - they keep me free from any foot injuries. I have the Endorphin Pro for road races, Peregrines for Spartans and other OCR's but the Kinvara is my go to for training. The new Kinvara 13 lives up to the name. ... show more

  • Very comfortable and lightweight running shoes
Size: 11 Color: Campfire Story
These running shoes are so comfy to run in. They are lightweight and have plenty of room in the toe box area. Your feet are slightly pitched forward to run properly on the ball of your foot. My calfs had to get used to running this way. Overall a great running shoe.

  • The BEST Kinvara of all time
Size: 12.5 Color: White/Black/Vizi
The Kinvara 13 is hands down my favorite Kinvara since the Kinvara 5. These are a bit softer underfoot compared to the Kinvara 12. I will be stocking up on these for sure. Here's how the Kinvara's compare to each other. Kinvara 13 - toebox wider than most shoes, but not as wide as Kinvara 12 or Saucony Triumph 13 - runs half size large - softer underfoot than Kinvara 12 - not as soft underfoot as kinvara 11 - quiet shoe / no squeaking when walking like Kinvara 11 - a tad bouncy, medium rubber feel underfoot. Very comfortable - neutral / flat shoe - Comfortable for 5 hours of walking - 100 degree weather, no sweat - Premium materials - heel is perfecy snug, not sloppy - laces are average - tongue is paper thin and breathable. - No hot spots anywhere in the shoe. - Ankle does not rub. Kinvara 12 - widest toe box - most breathable Kinvara - Decent walking shoe - runs 1/2 size large - 100 degree weather, no sweat Kinvara 11 - squeaky when walking - softest Kinvara underfoot - padded tongue - not as breathable - true to size - 100 degree weather, foot gets sweaty ... show more
