  • A Wonderful New "Ride"
Size: 9.5 Color: Flint/Navy
I've been a runner for over 50 years. Most of my miles occurr in ASICS DS Trainers - a combination racing flat with a little support and a little cushioning. My "Guide 18" shoes are my first forray into contemperary cushioned, light-weight general purpose rrunning shoes. The first time I put them on and tried them out indoors, I almost returned them. The heels are lower than the rest of the sole. This caused me to rock back when standing. Fortunately I researched the "Guide 18s" and discovered that they required some 'getting used to'. My first run was pure delight coupled with surprise. The "Guide 18" shoes are as light as racing flats from a decade ago. The cushioning is cloud-like. The support is uncanny. I am a mild pronator and a heavy heel striker. With all my past shoes, the inside rear of the heal was chronically scuffed, and every 20 miles I needed to coat the scuff area with shoe repair adhesive. I've put quite a few miles on my "Guide 18s" now and all the wear is evenly distributed - no repair adhesive needed yet; the stability feature must be working. The fit, by the way, is consistent with the advertised sizing. Summarizing: Durable, well-fitting, stable, light, comfortable, and a fine value for the money. ... show more

  • Comfortable for flat-footed big guy
Size: 13 Color: Black/White
My efforts to find Saucony Guide 14 shoes on Amazon in size 14 has gotten tougher and tougher. I always liked those because of the hard plastic support built into the instep that was wonderful for keeping plantar fasciitis at bay. I finally decided to move on with my life and try something new... purchased a pair of Guide 18s. In short: these are comfortable shoes with decent arch support (note: I don't have much of an arch, so the moderate built in arch support is sufficient) ... and that is further facilitated by the generous and forgiving midsole. These shoes are my daily drivers, and I spend all day on my feet walking on hard surfaces and stairs. So far, so good. This model is a bit more narrow than the older Guide 14s or 15s, the toe box is on the smaller side, and they do NOT have that hard plastic insert that kept the shoe from flexing twisting. I'm doing a lot less trail running than 10 years ago, and more "campus stair walking"-- so it's working out. If I was running 1/2 marathons or 10Ks, I would definitely go up a size to account for foot swelling and wider, flatter feet. Black is a pretty neutral color, and these are not flashy like some of those combo Chernobyl Orange and Three Mile Island Green designs of the past. Modest for work, and functional for LISS, dog walking, hill walking, and treadmill at the gym. A couple weeks in and the "There's Something About Mary" smile white of the midsole and sole are definitely showing the dirty world I tread. However, the soles are holding up pretty well so far. We will see if these wear in the usual spots for an overpronating dude of 6'3". Happy with my purchase, better price than any local running shoe store. ... show more

  • Excellent support
Size: 12.5 Wide Color: Black/White
Bought these as a gift for my dad's birthday and he loves them. They are true to size and fit him perfectly. He often needs additional insoles added, but these ones are so supportive and comfortable that he can wear them as is. The design is simple and looks good, with the all black uppers and white bottoms. The laces are long enough and have held up well. The have good grip, offering traction and added support, while being very lightweight. I will definitely order another pair for him in the future. ... show more

  • Comfort/Price/Width/Long Lasting
These are a 10/10. Hands down. I am a woman who has wide feet that goes just beyond the standards "women's wide." I found that the men's "normal" fit is bar far the best choice for me. I am only on my second pair and I still use the first as a go to runner. They are durable, a great price, and a staple running shoe (2 marathons, 2 half-marathons, countless 5ks and long days as a middle school special education teacher). ( : ... show more

  • Provide good comfort for aching feet!
Size: 12 Color: Navy/Skydiver
I was looking for new sneakers as I deal with Plantar fasciitis. There were many options and these were suggested by some sources on the Amazon website. I gave them a try and am delighted. They are more supportive and comfortable than others--that were significantly more expensive--that I also recently purchased (I went on a buying spree following friends' different recommendations). I should add that I left the original insoles in, but for the Plantar f..... I did add heel cups that I found on Amazon. Very pleased! ... show more

  • Great fit, very supportive, soles are not made to last. Great fit, very supportive, soles are not made to last.
Size: 10 Color: Shadow/Gum
(while taking pictures for this review I saw how bad the wear is on the soles hence my nice words but 1 star.) I got these after an article I read said they were really good for people who overpronate. (I have what appears to be a lovely arch. Complete fricken collapse, I have the flattest of flat feet) I had started trying to walk, and between crap arches, the shoes direly needing to be tightened, and my trying to walk fast by stepping further, I got shin splints. Not wanting to be deterred, I did some poking around and landed on these. And I love them. Before I got these I got some better inserts for my other shoes, and they do make a difference, but man, after wearing these, even the better arches in those feel weak. I feel so much more secure in these shoes. I only wear them when walking though. (Partly so I don't have to change them as often, partly cause I'm disabled, so kizicks are more my speed) I would wear them all the time if not for wanting to not have to change them out too often. I can't afford the recommended change as is, so. But they just feel so good on my foot. My arch feels so supported, they don't feel too hard, but not too soft. Speaking of, due to them needing to fit well, do be prepared for the joy of the weird way the laces are, laced. It's a bit of a pain loosening them to get them on (almost even off) but again, I'm spoiled and used to slipping my shoes on and off. Laces are nice and long. Too long even. I loosely double lace them so I don't step on them while walking. Tops are a thick mesh so breathable. And if they get wet, so will your feet. They are, of course, on the expensive side, in my opinion. But I paid this much for my kizicks as well (I'd say there was a gimmick I was paying for there, but I'm paying for really good support here, as well as them being walking/running shoes) With stupid times comes stupid prices. And honestly, considering some of the prices you see looking around at athletic shoes, these are cheap. So I'd say, super limited budget aside, that these are a great deal. Took some pictures to show the cat damage and the basic wear on the shoes and I dunno, does that wear seem excessive for having had the shoes for, oof. Less than a month? That's. Bad. Tee hee, there go all the stars I was giving these. Jeeze. That's bad. I'd love these shoes if the soles weren't apparently made of foam caulk. ... show more

  • comfortable but not very durable
Size: 12 Color: Flint/Navy
Pros: lightweight, very supportive, helps with plantar fasciitis Cons: not very durable, less than a month in and the soles are already showing major wear I like the shoe but it's definitely not designed for anything but light usage, any heavy walking or running and the soles will wear out. They're comfortable enough that I bought a second pair. hopefully this issue was a one off..... ... show more
