Description

Runs smooth. Feels amazing. Every bit of the Guide 15 was designed with three things in mind: total comfort, a light feel, and an unbelievably smooth ride. It’s softer, it’s springier, and it’s made to hug your foot like nothing else you’ve put on before. Delivering the running experience of your dreams, only it’s very, very real.

  • Very interesting footstrike profile. Otherwise nice and supportive/cushiony
I tend to supinate or under-pronate which means that my shoes wear on the outer edges both on the heel and midfoot. This shoe at first feels like it's exaggerating that type of motion for me, with the inner edge feeling like it hits the ground first unless you alter your gait/strike. But that isn't borne out with the wear pattern so far and I've had some great times on 2 mile runs on the treadmill without any pain, injuries or contributing to my already existing issues such as being prone to IT band problems. I like this shoe. It's lightweight and very cushiony. I'd say it's about in the middle of the road as far as overall support but the arch support is better than average. When you have a shoe of this type that is this lightweight, you're going to give up some support through the use of thinner/lighter materials, but this model is much more supportive than other Saucony lightweights like the Kinvara 13. I have also bought this shoe for my wife and she likes it a lot. We have completely different foot types and she's not a runner, but she does value stability and cushion. These deliver for both of us. You could easily run a marathon, 10k, or 5k in this shoe, but it tends toward the Hoka level of separation of your foot's sole from the road. So this particular model is more geared towards the 10k or marathon where the Ride 15 is a "faster" shoe and, IIRC, has a carbon or other hard material "spring" built into the mid-sole. So far I have nothing to complain about with this pair of Sauconys and they are always improving what needs to be improved and leaving what needs to be left alone in every subsequent model year. If you want supreme cushion, and not just the feel of it without the reality, these are a great option. They aren't the springiest running shoes out there, and the rise is a bit too much to use as weight/athletic trainers (for my body geometry and preferences anyway) but they are excellent in terms of orthopedics and support. Long story short I love this shoe for what it does, but don't expect it to do things that only "super shoes" or those with "superfoam" and state of the art midsole plates made of carbon fiber and other exotic materials to do. ... show more

  • I am very impressed with Saucony...PERIOD!
I am a 76-year old male avid power walker. I walk an average of 5 miles 5 days per week on a hard undulating asphalt track. I purchased these Saucony Guide 15 'stability' shoes as my first pair of non-neutral running shoes and I am quite happy with them after 65 days. They fit in rotation with a pair each of Hoka Bondi 7, On Cloudmonsters, Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 and the Saucony Guide 15. I rotate my shoes every walking day so they only see duty each 4 days. I suffer from supination and I thought that I might give a stability shoe a try to see if it would help to mitigate my tendency to lean outwardly. I was so impressed with my first Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 shoes that I was sure that Saucony was the direction I would go to try this type of shoe construction. I am very happy with my choice with the Guide 15 shoes. Like my ES2s they are extremely well made, lightweight, handsome and very different from anything I have worn before. They have guide rails in the sole of each shoe that actually keep my feet straighter and moving in a better direction on a flatter more straight path. They don't take over the process of steering you, but, they help to keep the feet from deviating from a more correct course. Compared to my Endorphin Speed 2 shoes, they are slightly heavier, not as fast, nor do they have quite the propulsion through the push-off that either my Cloudmonsters or my Endorphin Speed 2 shoes offer. These are a different breed of shoe, however, they are from Saucony and wonderfully made. I have found, with experience, that my Saucony's soles are also extremely durable. The only other shoe I have purchased that I like as nearly much are my On Cloudmonsters, however, their soles wear out quite quickly. ... show more

  • I like them a lot, BUT... (Updated Review)
These seem to be very good stability shoes for overpronation, and they have more cushion than the ASICS that I usually get. They are lightweight and they look good too. I was thinking of getting a second pair. but then, after a week or so, the left shoe developed a loud "pop" with every step taken on hard smooth surfaces. I read that this is likely caused by some of the inner layers separating, so as far as I can see there is no fix for it. Based on that, I'm very hesitant about buying another pair. Wish that hadn't happened, I really like them otherwise. One other small problem is the tongue doesn't have a loop on the top to run the shoestrings through to hold it up, so it slides forward when you put them on. Anyway, I thought I found my new favorite sneakers, but am now apprehensive. Dang. Update: After two months, now the second shoe makes the loud popping noise with each step. Doesn't make the noise on carpet, so now I wear these around the house but not out. Have to downgrade a star based on that. Otherwise, I still like the shoes - but it's hard to recommend them based on that popping sound noise. ... show more
