  • The only phone worth it's salt.
Pattern Name: Smartphone
EXPANDABLE STORAGE AND 3.5MM JACK I slept on this phone the whole time I was shopping simply because I never liked Samsung's jank phones. But after scouring the market trying to find a phone that offered at least half the value they charged you for, I settled on the LG V60 (RIP LG phones), which wouldn't work on my network because of some bs proprietary technology (it seems like we're evolving backwards, innit?) It wasn't until I was going mad with rage at the consumer electronics market that I checked this phone out, and while I don't care for the UI, it's got all the hardware I need for an almost reasonable price. It basically cost the same as my G6 did, but comes with a better display and camera. Display is sweet, I like you can turn off 120hz to get more out of your battery, but I consistently run 120 with netflix, some social media-ing, and a fair amount of picture taking and the battery lasts me about a day and a half (I went to work with a full charge at 6am this morning, it's 11pm now and I've got 45% left with me having binged watched netflix for at least a few hours while browsing the web) Camera isn't top of the line, but it is pretty dang crispy. Focus is fast, you can quickly adjust WB, has a fair amount of shooting modes and image processing. My biggest quirk is, and this may just be my eyes, but depth seems a bit off at times, like the background and foreground blend a bit. Night shooting is pretty clean, and has better zoom than any phone I've owned, but don't expect magic from a quarter mile away haha video is a little shakey, I would've liked to have seen more stabilization, but I can deal with it. Comes with android 10 but you can download 11 off rip. One other thing I liked about this phone is there isn't a whole lot of bloatwear that you can't delete. Even most of Samsung's and Google's apps can be deleted, which is great because I don't want em haha Other noteworthy things: MicroSD up to 1tb IP68 rating-i actually already accidentally tested this at it was sweet, so save your rice for cooking, kids. Kinda hard to find a sweet case for it, there is no classic defender otterbox :( It's wide and tall, but offset by not being very deep. Two hander if you've got small hands though. Final thoughts: Samsung still sucks, and I'll forever miss LG phones, but the specs you get for the price are really unmatched for what's out there nowadays. I really don't understand why you'd buy a $1300 flagship that has the same display, a slightly better camera, and no expandable storage, no audio jack, no IP rating, and an equal or lesser battery. In my eyes, this is the only phone worth getting in 2021. If I hadn't found it, I'd have just gotten a talk and text phone for work and just chalked everything else because smart phones are becoming more and more of a ripoff each year, and this was a REALLY bad year for them. Price gouging, proprietary tech locking you up, consumers will be at the mercy of the industry until we reclaim our buying power and refuse to pay for overpriced garbage ... show more

  • Another great product from Samsung
Pattern Name: Smartphone
Originally I bought this phone to replace my Blackview rugged cellphone. I'm out in the weather alot and needed a water resistant phone. This one fits the bill when you also get a waterproof case as extra protection. Super fast and extremely responsive. Battery life is exceptional despite having a far smaller battery than the Blackview. True 5G and call quality is phenomenal. My only complaint is the fingerprint reader is picky. You have to press it just right and have clean hands for it to work flawlessly! The Samsung apps work with my other devices without a hitch. I paired this with my Samsung work tablet and never had a problem sharing files or taking calls and text on my tablet when using the phone. The Optimization app is very useful is freeing up space and getting the most out of batter life. I typically use the phone for hours at a time due to work and it's never dropped below 40% even on busy days. The loss of wireless charging is another thing but it's fine for me, never used it much anyways. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Very good so long as you know what you're getting.
Pattern Name: Smartphone
So many have written near full reviews on this I won't repeat that except to give a quick opinion for this phone. It's a second phone for me, used for when I sell items online, as I didn't want to invest in a more expensive phone for that reason. I use it on Tracfone's prepaid service and it works fine with their sim card. The A52 is considered "mid-range", and you should NOT compare it to a $1,000+ iPhone or similarly priced Samsung phone. At full price it's $499, but occasionally goes on sale for $399, and at that price, is an excellent deal. It boots up quickly enough. The under-screen fingerprint reader is not as reliable or as fast as a dedicated physical fingerprint reader button, but so long as you take the time to properly program a couple of fingers into it, it works well enough. The 1080p screen is bright and clear, and just large enough to give you plenty of viewing space and still be able to comfortably hold it, without being overwhelmingly large. The speakers are decent. Battery life is pretty good and should get you through a whole day unless you literally live on the phone. Call quality is "ok", and so far I've only suffered from one dropped call. The wifi antennae likewise, has good reception. Camera wise, it's again in the mid-range territory. The main back camera does a very good job in good lighting, and a decent job in lower light. The wide-angle camera isn't quite as sharp/detailed and does less well in low light, but still more than good enough for online pics. The maco lens is ok for quick close shots but not very high res and you have to keep your hands VERY steady to keep them sharp. Front selfie cam is better than average but not top notch, and again, gets the job done. This is one of the better mid-range phones on the market in this price range, and if you can especially get it when it's on sale for $349-$399, then it's an EXCELLENT deal for what you get for the price. Once again, it's not a $1,000+ phone and if you compare it to one of those exactly, you might be a little disappointed, but if you compare it to others in this price range, it's a good pick. ... show more
