Description

Simplify your workday while enjoying an amazing screen experience with the Samsung C49J890DKN 49-Inch Curved Ultra-Wide Monitor for Business. This productivity machine features a spacious, panoramic screen and a 32:9 aspect ratio – the equivalent of two 27-inch 16:9 monitors configured side-by-side. Use it to replace multiple monitors and dramatically streamline your workstation – no more misalignment, extra cables, unnecessary stands, or bezels to clutter your view. The C49J890DKN features an 1800R ultra-curved screen, which more closely matches the way the human eye views objects and helping keep eye fatigue to a minimum during long working hours. The VA panel also accommodates wide viewing angles, ensuring a sharp picture even when viewed from off-angles. The monitor also makes workstation setup easy: an integrated KVM switch lets you easily control two computers from a single set of peripherals, while two USB-C ports let you connect the monitor to a wide range of devices. Finally, a 144Hz refresh rate delivers lower cursor lag and eliminates blurring, ghosting, and juddering, so users can keep track of even the fastest moving content.

  • WARNING - DO NOT USE A DOCKING STATION / HUB - Otherwise Solid.
First of all... I mainly use this monitor for work but will occasionally game. In light of that, I wanted to be able to plug my laptop (Razer Blade 15) in with a single USB C cable and have all my peripherals match my home and work office (same mouse, keyboard, screen, etc.). To accomplish this, I bought 2 of everything including docking stations that were compatible with my computer. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why the monitor wasn't working very well with it. The screen would occasionally go black / audio would cut off as if the monitor lost signal. However, wait 1 second and everything is back online right away. Drove me nuts because I thought it was a loose cable, a faulty docking / hub station, etc. Only once I came back to the amazon reviews did I realize that the monitor has it's own simplified docking station built in. THIS IS A LIFESAVER. I actually read the instructions (who would have thought those were helpful) and hooked up all my cables directly into the monitor instead of the docking station. Boom. Worked like a charm. There's even less cables on my desk now and even less power consumption going on without the need of the docking station. Literally went from a 1 star review of me wanting to return the monitor to a 5 star review with how easy this makes everything. Nice job Samsung! Knew you wouldn't let me down :) ... show more

  • Love it so far.
So far I love this purchase. It has taken productivity for myself to another level. It puts a value on your time. I'm a big spreadsheet guy and always run tons of open windows. Just make sure your graphics card supports the output for this monitor. Ram I believe is important when it comes to running this monitor. As of now the screen is flawless. It could be a better resolution but I strictly bought this for work and youtube videos. The sound quality is ok. The controls are "different". My concern will be longevity of the switches. My biggest complaint so far is 1 hdmi port. Samsung really got cheap on input options. A remote would have been nice for controlling options I cannot give a true rating on this monitor without having for a couple years. At this price point I expected it to last a long time. The warranty on Amazon played a role on my purchase. 4/16/23 The monitor still runs flawless. No dead pixels and now wall mounted. My biggest complaint is for gaming. The darks are incredibly dark and you cannot see images as well. I play doom eternal and 2016 from a Nintendo switch on here and the darks are just not clear enough to see. The switch may have issues displaying on this type of monitor so I can't fully fault the monitor ... show more

  • 7-8 Months into Covid Remote Working - Finally Feeling Productive
This monitor is great! On March 1st, my team of programmers was sent home for Covid, a couple of weeks before the rest of a large corporation was sent home. As a developer, I use a lot of screen real estate. At the office, I had 3 24-inch monitors and my laptop screen. I used them all and dealt with the bevels separating the screens. At home, I had a 23-inch and a 24-inch monitor on my desk. So, in March, I set up a square card table beside my home desk, off to the left. I set-up one of the 22-inch monitors and opened my laptops screen. I would bounce back and forth between keyboards, mice, headsets, and cameras to have meetings and perform my magic work of creating apps. However, after 4 months, I started getting fatigued and feeling claustrophobic. I started looking at 43 and 49-inch Ultrawide monitors. While I would have loved to afford the horizontal lines at 1440, the cost was too much. All my current monitors, other than one of my laptops, were 1920 x 1080. So, I started shopping. The KVM switch of the C49J890 seemed promising, yet I was leery that it might now work. I got it in and I can tell you I am highly satisfied with this layout. Because of working with 22 - 24-inch monitors, this seems more than just getting two 27-inch monitors in one. To me, it feels like 2.6 monitors. It took a little to get my three computers attached and sharing the KVM. Yes, it only allows you to show two systems at a time in PBP/PIP, but you change sources. This is my configuration: - System 1 - Desktop, connects via DisplayPort and USB (PC IN using the USB-C to A cable) - System 2 - Work Laptop, connects via HDMI, external power, and USB-C #1 (Had to by an extra USB Type-C with DP ratings cable) - System 3 - Personal Laptop, connects via USB-C #2 (does not need external power) - Keyboard and mouse connect to the two USB ports - Logitech Web cam connects to the USB C Since this monitor has speakers in it, I was able to remove my desktop speakers. The sound isn't quite as good since I had a subwoofer, but it is still good. The only con's does deal with the interface on the monitor itself. It does a lot, don't get me wrong. But it would be nice if someone (wish I had the time) could interface a Windows and a Mac app to the monitor's drivers and the OSD menu. I have to stretch across the desk and push the different buttons and jog stick to change between sharing sources and moving the KVM destinations. One specific issue is when I have the monitor in Picture by Picture mode (PBP), Work on the left and Personal on the right. So, I'm listening to music of my personal machine on the right (you can decide which source provides the sound to the speakers) and I'm working on code on the left work machine with the KVM switch providing mouse, keyboard, and webcam to it. Then a Teams/Zoom/Webex meeting comes from work. I open the call and realize I cannot hear the other person/people on the call. It took two calls to realize that yes, I need to switch the sound to the left using a two-three button pushes. I have submitted a request to Samsung to provide the ability that the Sound can be optionally set to move with the KVM switch. It will help mitigate my "world ending" situation. :) Also, remember that the PBP doesn't have to be 1920x1080 for each screen (giving the idea of two equal monitors, 50% each). It can set the sources to be 33.3% and 66.6% (left or right) respectively. I find this beneficial when I need to let work be 66% and a personal to be 33% at different times of the day. I didn't try the Samsung software to position windows on the screen, as I have found the Windows 10 PowerToys works great for me with the FancyZones feature. Peace, Keith ... show more

  • TERRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY! Buy the CRG9 Instead
First of all I don't completely want to bash this particular monitor as it looks great astheitcally, the 144HZ refresh feels so smooth, but other than that Samsung really failed in the picture quality department. If you need a crisp and good resolution for either gaming, or even working on things like video editing, product development, etc... then do not get this. The resolution just LACKS. On paper it 3840x1080 which may seem like enough, but it is NOT. My other monitor is a 3840x1440p and its just sooooo much better when it comes to resolution. May not seem like a big jump but placing the two displays side by side really shows it. You really see the disparity in resolution when it comes to displaying text. It looks so grainy and incredibly frustrating to look at. I don't understand why Samsung couldn't have upped the max resolution by a little. It would have went a long way. ... show more
