  • Excellent, Well Rounded Monitor.
This is a near excellent monitor. The quality of the stand and screen is excellent. The monitor looks great out of the box, with little configuration needed. The monitor does provide the advertised 240Hz refresh rate and resolution as advertised. If you are not getting the correct resolution and refresh rate, the issue is likely the cable you are using. This monitor performs well in light environments, and has a great anti-glare coating. Some people may find the screen to be too “matte” and would prefer a more glossy coating from another brand. ... show more

  • A few oddities
First off, the picture quality is stunning coming from an Acer Predator 27 inch 1440P monitor. The colors are much richer. The blacks are definitely jet black. Two things that bother me. The warranty is supposed to be 3 years but the included paperwork says 1 year. After looking online it seems to be an issue. Hopefully I can register my monitor on the Samsung website and it will recognize the 3 year warranty. The mini joystick button on the back of the monitor for settings is a pain. If you don't push it squarely in the middle it registers an up or down or left or right movement. It's very finicky. IMPORTANT: If you are going from a 1080P or 1440P monitor to any 4K monitor, you may need to replace your power supply in your PC with a higher wattage one. I didn't stop to think about that. The good people at Tom's Hardware brought it to my attention. A 4K monitor will push your graphics card way higher in wattage consumption. I have a 4090 GPU which is capable of pulling over 400 watts and bursts of 600 or so watts. My current PSU is only 850 watts. After factoring the CPU wattage and other components I was already at the bare minimum. With my 1440P monitor, the GPU was only drawing less than 200 watts. This 4K monitor is probably going to draw max wattage. It was suggested to buy a minimum 1200 watt or preferably a 1600 watt power supply. I went with the 1600 watt. They are expensive! Glad I got a good deal on the monitor at $899. Now my beef with that. The day I got my delivery I saw the Samsung site is selling this monitor for $799. You can't win sometimes. ... show more

  • Dead pixels after 2 months of use
Absolutely gorgeous picture quality. Unfortunately I spent all this money on a monitor just for a bunch of pixel clusters to stop working just 2 months into use after the return window.

  • No Reflection No Glare
You are either going to love or hate the matte coating on the glass. The thing to love: no reflections and no glare, and an eye-saver option, so this monitor is easy on the eyes, and for that reason I love it. The perfect monitor for using in a sunlight room. Download the Samsung Display app to easily configure the monitor to your preferences. The thing to hate: the matte finish makes text less crisp than one would expect with this pixel density. ... show more

  • High price - not great quality
So, there are certain things with a monitor at this price point that I would expect - yet this one lacks. First, cable management - there’s no hole in the stand to send cables through, but rather just a flimsy little U band on the back. Okay - so perhaps that one you can tell from pictures before purchase but still…. Anyways other things - this monitor only comes with a power (non standard), hdmi and display cables. Know what’s missing? The usb 3.0 cable so that you can actually use the usb ports on it. Next up - build quality - the creaking plastic bezel and more importantly… the fact that to seat cables in their appropriate interfaces/ports the main board in the back flex’s inward way, way too much! Now with that out of the way let’s talk about picture - don’t want burn in, well Samsung decided to ship this with defaults on full blast for both brightness and saturation - yet left sharpness down…??? It’s a 4K monitor. I’m scratching my head on the sharpness. Still image quality - just get something different and cheaper as another reviewer noted - vey grainy image especially noticeable on any lighter colors. However - for fast moving video and gaming this is great when it comes to the blacks and depths. It’s fantastic. Overall, I find the gigabyte MU28 to be better in most items… but again, specifically with the depth and black color on this screen when it is in use is incredible. ... show more

  • The monitor I’ve been holding out for
I’ve been looking for a high end gaming monitor for a while now to pair with my PS5 Pro, but none of them could quite check all of the boxes I was looking for. Until now: - Name brand I can trust - OLED - 27” - 4k - 120 hz refresh or more - No annoying smart features This monitor is basically perfect. It’s also great for work - the text quality is sharp because of the high pixel density and the colors pop. The build quality is generally excellent - heavy and metal - with the exception of the port area which is plastic and kind of cheap feeling. I’ve had a little bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to maximize the settings, but I’m sure a guide or YouTube video will come out in due time that will help with that. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • There's a lot to like, but some serious shortcomings.
Let me commend Samsung on what they got right. First, the QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display is impressive. Thanks to the high pixel density, I didn't notice any issues with color fringing. The stand is also great. It has a relatively small footprint, and is flat so it doesn't get in the way like tripod style stands from Asus and others. I found the overall design aesthetic to be refined and much more streamlined from the side profile than any competing models. The monitor was also priced more reasonably than other similar options. For SDR content, I found the brightness to be more than enough. If anything I wasn't able to turn the brightness down quite as low as I would have liked. As with all OLED monitors currently available, the HDR performance left much to be desired compared to an OLED TV. I was initially impressed by the sharpness, but found the matte coating really detracted from the overall clarity. It wasn't a problem when watching videos, but it became obtrusive with static content. I wouldn't have thought it was possible to simultaneously be both sharp and hazy at the same time, but somehow it was. The other issue I discovered is that 27" is simply too small for a 4k monitor. Even with Windows scaling, I found myself practically pressing my nose to the screen to make out the detail in things like thumbnails. The cost saving measure of using an outdated DisplayPort 1.4 connection was also disappointing. Despite the negative aspects, I would have kept the monitor if not for one major issue. The left half of the screen developed an intermittent problem where the colors wouldn't display properly (see attached images). It could be resolved by switching to an alternate input and then back, but that's not something I wanted to deal with and it didn't bode well for overall longevity. Perhaps related to this premature failure, I noticed a lot of play when plugging in the cables to the back of the monitor. It didn't feel like the input board was properly secured inside the monitor. I have given Samsung the benefit of the doubt and have rated this monitor on the assumption that I was just unlucky and received a poorly assembled unit. If you haven't made your purchase yet, I'd recommend looking at a 32" model instead. Just be sure the matte coating isn't a deal breaker for you. For a glossy finish, I would suggest going with a QD-OLED option from MSI or Asus. ... show more
