  • Impressive 25" Samsung Odyssey G4 Gaming Monitor Delivers Smooth Performance
Style: 300 Hz
I received the Samsung 25" Odyssey G4 (G40H) Gaming Monitor through Amazon Vine and have been using it as my main gaming and work display for the past few weeks. As someone who enjoys competitive gaming but also needs a solid monitor for everyday tasks, this 25-inch FHD panel has been a strong performer that punches well above its price point. The monitor arrives well-protected in sturdy packaging. Setup was straightforward with the included stand that supports height adjustment (HAS), tilt, swivel, and pivot. The build quality feels premium with a sleek black design and thin bezels that give it a modern, immersive look. The monitor is relatively lightweight yet stable on the desk, and the stand offers excellent ergonomics so I can easily adjust it to the perfect viewing angle and height for long sessions. Visually, the Fast IPS panel is excellent. Colors are vibrant and accurate right out of the box, with good contrast for an IPS display. The 300Hz refresh rate is the standout feature — everything feels incredibly smooth and responsive. In fast-paced games like first-person shooters, the motion clarity is outstanding with virtually no blur or ghosting thanks to the 1ms response time. Enabling G-Sync Compatible or AMD FreeSync Premium eliminates screen tearing and stuttering, creating a fluid experience that helps with aiming and tracking targets. HDR10 support adds nice depth to supported games and media, making highlights pop and dark areas show more detail. While it’s not as bright as some higher-end HDR monitors, it still provides a noticeable improvement over standard SDR content. The 1080p resolution on a 25-inch screen strikes a perfect balance — sharp enough for detailed work and gaming without demanding too much GPU power, allowing me to maintain high frame rates consistently. One of the features I use most is the Black Equalizer. It brightens dark areas without washing out the rest of the image, giving me a clear advantage in shadowy environments without making the picture look unnatural. The Virtual Aim Point is another thoughtful addition, providing customizable crosshairs for games that don’t have built-in options. These small gaming-focused tools show Samsung understands what enthusiasts actually want. For everyday use, the monitor handles productivity tasks smoothly. Text is crisp, and the wide viewing angles of the IPS panel mean colors and brightness stay consistent even when I’m not sitting perfectly centered. I’ve used it for photo editing, web browsing, and streaming content, and it performs reliably across all of them. The low input lag makes it feel responsive even when switching between gaming and work. Connectivity options are solid with multiple HDMI ports and a DisplayPort, making it easy to hook up different devices. The menu system is intuitive with a small joystick control on the back, letting me quickly switch between presets like FPS, RPG, or Cinema modes depending on what I’m doing. At this price, the overall value is excellent. You’re getting a high-refresh-rate gaming monitor with useful features, strong ergonomics, and solid build quality that usually costs more. The Odyssey G4 series has a great reputation in the gaming community, and this model continues that tradition by focusing on performance where it matters most — speed, smoothness, and responsiveness. After extended use, I’ve experienced no dead pixels, backlight bleed, or other common issues. The monitor stays cool during long sessions, and the fanless design keeps it completely silent. Eye comfort features like flicker-free technology and a blue light filter help reduce strain during marathon gaming nights or long workdays. The Saltwater Blue Camo? Wait, no — this is the standard black model, but its clean aesthetics fit well in any setup, whether it’s a dedicated gaming battlestation or a multipurpose desk. I’ve had friends try it during gaming sessions and they’ve all commented on how smooth and responsive it feels compared to their older 144Hz or 165Hz monitors. The 300Hz refresh rate really shines in competitive titles where every millisecond counts. Combined with the fast IPS panel, it delivers that competitive edge without sacrificing too much color accuracy. For casual gamers or those who also use their PC for content creation and general use, it’s versatile enough to handle everything well. Overall, this is a great monitor from a brand I trust. The combination of high refresh rate, responsive performance, thoughtful gaming features, and excellent ergonomics makes it a smart choice for both serious gamers and everyday users. At this price point, it offers outstanding quality and performance that makes it easy to recommend. Whether you’re upgrading from a basic 60Hz or 144Hz display, the jump to 300Hz with all the supporting features is noticeable and worthwhile. I’m thoroughly impressed and happy with this addition to my setup. ... show more

  • Great Upgrade for Work and Gaming
Style: 300 Hz
This Samsung Odyssey G4 monitor has been an amazing upgrade for our shared computer setup. My husband and I use the same PC — I use it for work in data, and he uses it for gaming — and this monitor handles both needs perfectly. The picture quality is crisp, the colors are vibrant, and the refresh rate makes everything feel smooth and responsive. For work, the clarity makes spreadsheets, dashboards, and detailed visuals easy to read. The brightness is strong without being harsh, and the screen size gives plenty of room for multitasking. For gaming, the 300Hz refresh rate and fast response time make a noticeable difference. My husband immediately commented on how smooth everything felt, especially in fast‑paced games. The monitor is easy to set up, and the stand feels sturdy. The menu settings are simple to navigate, and switching between work and gaming modes is quick. It’s the perfect balance — not overly complicated, but still packed with features that matter. Overall, this monitor earns a full 5 stars. It’s a great upgrade that works beautifully for both productivity and gaming. ... show more

  • Solid All-Rounder with Gaming Chops
Style: 300 Hz
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this monitor but I was pleasantly surprised at, pretty much, every turn. Unboxing and assembling the monitor was simplicity itself. The base of the monitor features a single screw fixing and this screw has a pull-out tab on it meaning that it can be attached to the monitor arm without the need for additional tools. That’s very handy! The arm itself fits to the back of the monitor with a tab and latch operation. VESA holes are also included for use with different mounting arms. For me, the whole thing was up and running in minutes. I was impressed by the overall feel and build quality of the monitor. It felt substantial and that it would last well. The first thing I noticed when I powered up the monitor and fed it with the HDMI signal I usually use with my “48 OLED TV was how accurate the color was. I’ve viewed and reviewed quite a lot of monitors and TVs and, by now, I’m used to how they should look in terms of grayscale accuracy etc. This was an instant hit. Everything looked perfect. Skin tones were accurate, whites weren't too red or too blue. The picture was measured and naturalistic. I was pleased to have so little to do, especially since the menu joystick is around back of the monitor and a little difficult to access. Users can download Samsung’s “Display Manager” to their computer to cover basic operations without physically interacting with the controls. If I was just looking for a small TV I could have stopped this review right there. However this is not a TV it’s a monitor and a monitor specifically tuned for gaming at that. Now I have to admit I’m not much of a gamer myself but I’m forming a reasonable understanding of features that the market likes to see. The monitor's resolution is 1080p. That might seem low in a world of 1440p and 4K screens but, honestly, I didn’t have any issues with sharpness here. Fed the right signal this looked pretty phenomenal. I played some space video shot at 4k and everything looked tremendously sharp and near three-dimensional. My PC graphics card tops out at 120hz refresh rate and the screen showed that with linear exactitude. The monitor can support frame rates up to 300hz when using the Display Port input but I don’t have any equipment sufficiently powerful enough to test that. One advantage of the lower screen resolution is that it allows for faster frame rates with less stress on your computer’s graphics processing unit. Inputs are limited to a single HDMI and the aforementioned Display Port. cables are included as is an external power brick. Whilst the monitor does not have speakers, there is a 3.5 mm headphone socket available which can route audio to headphones or some kind of sound system/speaker arrangement. This appears increasingly common and I’d rather this than the tinny sounding speakers in most monitors. Finally there’s a USB-A socket for service interface. For me the monitor also worked well for general office tasks such as text editing, document prep and web browsing. Everything looked clean and clear. Off-angle viewing was also very good for an IPS monitor. Pricewise, I thought the monitor was a little expensive. It is very well made but there are competing mini-LEDs at this level, many with 1440p resolution which might offer a challenge. Also OLEDs are starting to creep down a bit now and, as a lover of that technology for its deep black levels and, often, gorgeous color, a user might be tempted to drop a little more to get in on that game. Right now, the most basic OLEDs don’t compete with this for outright frame rate performance but that could change. Also, IPS is practically burn-in free, a consideration if one is likely to be leaving static images like stock tickers or station chirons on screen for lengths of time. Overall, this is a solid pick for an all round quality monitor and that fast frame rate and GPU friendly resolution could push it, favorably, over the edge in the eyes of certain users. ... show more

  • Good price, good quality
Style: 300 Hz
The Samsung Odyssey G4 (G40H) monitor stands as one of the most competitive options on the market for competitive gamers and eSports enthusiasts, distinguished by its astonishing 300Hz refresh rate that guarantees extreme fluidity in gameplay. In the world of competitive gaming, every millisecond counts. Samsung addresses this need with the 25-inch Odyssey G4—a monitor that sacrifices ultra-high resolution to focus 100% on speed, pure performance, and ergonomics, offering a genuine tactical advantage in fast-paced games such as Valorant, Counter-Strike, or Call of Duty. Display: 25 inches with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). Panel: Fast IPS (vivid colors and excellent viewing angles). Speed: 300Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time (GtG). Synchronization: Compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium. Dynamic Range: HDR10 support. Full Ergonomics (HAS): Height, tilt, swivel, and pivot (90° rotation) adjustments. Software Extras: Black Equalizer (enhanced visibility in dark areas) and Virtual Aim Point (on-screen crosshair). Absolute Fluidity at 300Hz: The true heart of this monitor is its colossal 300Hz refresh rate, combined with a Fast IPS panel. Stepping up from the standard 60Hz—or even 144Hz—to 300Hz delivers a level of motion smoothness that is almost indistinguishable from reality. By adding a 1ms response time into the mix, the annoying effect of motion blur (ghosting) vanishes completely. Rapid camera transitions remain crisp, allowing you to react and aim with far greater precision. 2. High-Quality IPS Panel with Excellent Color: Historically, ultra-fast monitors sacrificed image quality by utilizing TN panels known for their washed-out colors. Samsung resolves this issue by implementing IPS technology. The Odyssey G4 delivers vibrant colors and well-defined blacks—thanks to the Black Equalizer feature—along with 178-degree viewing angles. Although it features HDR10 support to enhance contrast in multimedia content, its true strength remains its color performance in SDR during everyday gaming sessions. 3. Premium, High-End Ergonomics: The stand included with this monitor is one of the best in its price range. It features a fully adjustable stand system (HAS): you can raise or lower the monitor with just a finger, tilt it, swivel it horizontally, or pivot it a full 90 degrees for vertical orientation—an ideal setup for streamers monitoring chat feeds or for programmers. ... show more

  • Crisp colors and good HDR and black levels, but introduces a monitor wake delay
Style: 300 Hz
This Samsung Odyssey G4 monitor has impressive picture quality for an IPS panel, though adding it to a multi-display setup caused an annoying delay when waking it from sleep. I have this LS25HG402ENXZA model paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 and an Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card. While it has a high 300Hz refresh rate capability, my games max out at 60 frames per second, so that is what I typically play at. The color reproduction is accurate, and the HDR10 capability performs well. In bright scenes, the colors pop, and the black levels are surprisingly deep for an IPS panel. I expected dark scenes to look washed out or gray, but this screen holds its contrast nicely. Instead of using the included height-adjustable stand, I mounted the panel to my desk using the 100x100mm VESA points, which made installation straightforward. The monitor is lightweight, but the construction doesn't feel cheap. The borders are thin, measuring about 5mm on the panel itself with an additional 1.5mm plastic surround, which looks sharp. My main issue comes from using this as part of a three-monitor setup. Since replacing one of my older displays with this Samsung, every time the monitors resume from sleep mode, all three screens flash on and go black three times in a row. It takes about 20 seconds before the desktop stabilizes, creating an irritating hurdle when trying to get back to work or gaming. This sequence never occurred before adding this specific unit to the system. At $279.99, this 25-inch display is a decent buy if you want fast IPS performance and good colors. If you catch it on sale for $240 or less, it is a solid value for a quality 1080p gaming screen. ... show more

  • Excellent Gaming Monitor With Thoughtful Design
Style: 300 Hz
This is an outstanding gaming monitor and one of the better displays I've used in this size category. Setup was incredibly simple. The stand snaps together easily, and the monitor attaches cleanly without any frustration. I also appreciate that Samsung includes both an HDMI cable and a DisplayPort cable in the box, so you have everything you need to get started immediately. One detail I particularly liked is the power adapter design. Instead of using a large external power brick that takes up valuable space on a power strip or surge protector, the adapter is located up the cable, which is much cleaner and more streamlined. The image quality is excellent. Colors are vivid, bright, and vibrant, and the IPS panel provides great viewing angles. Everything looks sharp and clear whether you're gaming, watching videos, or using it for everyday desktop work. The 300Hz refresh rate is especially impressive. Motion is incredibly smooth, and fast-paced games feel responsive and fluid. Whether or not every user can fully take advantage of 300Hz, it's certainly nice to have that level of performance available. The overall design is clean, modern, and well thought out. Nothing feels cheap, and the monitor has the polished appearance that I've come to expect from Samsung's Odyssey lineup. Considering the performance, included accessories, image quality, and refresh rate, I think this monitor represents excellent value for the money. Overall, this is a well-designed gaming monitor with excellent image quality, smooth performance, thoughtful engineering, and a very reasonable price for what you get. ... show more
