I have ordered versions of this Salomon product for years, and I highly recommend it. I have bad ankles and high arches. I have to put special inserts into the soles because of my high arches, but the boots are awesome. Some say that they are heavy and bulky. In a nutshell, so what?! I hike in rocky and heavily rooted areas, where these boots have saved my toes and ankles over and over again. I have to work them in a little because they are stiff when you first purchase them, but they conform to your feet. They can take a pounding too. I slowly shift older pairs to be my work boots and have worked them to death until the soles break away. I live in Wyoming, so the GTX is very helpful and the boots take a beating. These are not waterproof, so using them in the snow as snowboots is dumb. I know that not all boots are for everyone, but these are great for both hiking and backpacking. Again, yes, they are heavier than other boots, but they protect your feet endlessly. ... show more

I did not buy from listed seller, but a local REI. However, I can say confidently that so far, these boots are great for the activities, for which they were designed. I am only 30 miles in, so I am still breaking them in, but the comfort and quality are superior to my old beloved Keen hiking boots. ***Update*** 3 mo. in and I now have several hundred miles on these hiking boots and am very pleased that they still look and feel great.
