I purchased these when I found out the insurance company was not going to insure me unless all of my siding (I'm putting siding over existing siding) was installed. Being at the end of the money for the project, I decided to give these a try. Super easy, and allowed me to get the smart siding up in time, all by myself! I'm having a little problem with the tension releasing on one. I just use a flat head screwdriver to get it unstuck. On the other one, I can't seem to get it cranked tight enough to move. Not cheap but a better value than the simple hook types. The best feature, for me, was that I could adjust the gaps to any measurement. Most just give you specific, most popular overlap.

Very well made metal tool. It can use some improvements. The piece that slides under the siding has a blunt metal end that doesn't slide between the pieces of siding unless you use another tool to pry the siding apart so you can get the tool in. The other flaw I found is the setting for the exposed siding is tightening up a Allan screw. If the tool is hard to remove cause the siding is tight my guys were taping it with a hammer which changed the setting so the next run would be off. I took a die grinder to my 2 sets and ground the piece of metal to a sharp point which made it work better. Some of my carpenters had the Gecko they work much better. ... show more

    • Handy, makes it easier for one person to hang siding.

Used these on a siding job I just did where I was doing it alone and not with a second person. Normally siding requires two people to hang siding, however with this tool it makes it fairly easy for one person to hang siding. The end of it is a little thicker and sometimes hard to slide under the siding where it is super tight to the building. Also, the allen bolt that sets the distance tends to move around a bit so it has to be reset every so often. I took an engraver and made marks on it so it was easy to see and tell when there was unwanted movement with the tool. ... show more

Aside from being beautiful to look at, this tool is very useful. Once adjusted to the dimensions of the siding, simply slide the next piece of siding down to rest on the tool. Do that for each piece of siding without needing to measure each time. I love it, am using it, and recommend it.
