I expected the action to be terrible and that it wouldn't stay in tune. It plays great right out of the box. No fret buzz anywhere and it stays in tune perfectly. Well worth the money. It's a bit shorter scale than a full size P bass so I find I need to boost the bass frequencies for recording just a bit to get the same rumble as my old broken bass that I replaced with this. It just arrived. Neck is straight with well dressed frets. Because of the temperature of the instrument, I will not be setting it up or trying it out until tomorrow. Quality seems good. Finish is beautiful. So, this bass has everything it needs. It set up easily. There were no neck issues. I did upgrade the bridge/tailpiece assembly to give a bit more stability and add more sustain. This was a personal choice. With thr weakened grip in my left hand, I also had to upgrade the tuners. I went with a set of $16.99 Kaish tuners, which Amazon also carries. Since I set this bass up, I have done several other uprades, and it is now my go to bass. Great action. Great player. ... show more

So I bought this bass to see if I really wanted to take the time to learn bass. I'm glad I stuck with it. Only issues I had with this bass is the fretboard is not smooth, like razor sharp. When I first got it it cut up the side of my hand so bad it drew blood. Spent an afternoon filing it back down. Also you should go to your local guitar place and replace your strings and get it set up. It's got great tone and makes for a great starting bass. ... show more

This is a good starter bass for child or adult alike. It is cheap, easy to work with and can be fun. I would rather buy American made, but I could not find an American cheap bass for this price. awesome bass...plays great for a bass that is less than $80...only complaint is that as with most of these low end bass guitars, the finishing is poorly done and the bass has a strong chemical smell and I find whatever it has been finished with to be irritating to my skin...also, some of the frets are razor sharp and can cut thru skin...other than that, it is an awesome value and sounds and plays great! ... show more

So, after a fresh set of strings and an adjustment, this bass is awesome for the money. Shielded the inside with copper tape and theres no noise from the pickup, which has a solid clear tone. Sanded the neck which us a bit chunky(thick) and have no complaints. I'd highly recommend it...really solid as is. ... show more

Received this just a few days ago and have been on it everyday since. I record and make music, but wanted something other than samples to do so to add my own artistic creativeness. It is a really nice guitar, the weight is decent, but I may be getting new strings for them; have been looking at a couple of Ernie Ball sets. All in all if you're looking for a beginner bass guitar definitely a good buy for the price, but may want to upgrade something (pickups ,strings, etc.) ... show more
