I've worn tampons since I was 16. I had an IUD after my first child and had it removed after five years. I wore tampons for the first time in awhile (my IUD gave me no periods) and I had forgotten how uncomfortable and inconvenient they are. It wasn't until I was hiking the Sierras over Fourth of July weekend that my tampon actually fell 90% of the way out that I said NO MORE. I was just walking when all of the sudden I felt that familiar...feeling. I had no access to a bathroom and no backups with me. I hiked for FOUR hours with a tampon more than halfway hanging out of me. When I got back from that trip, I started researching cups and landed on the Saalt. Let me just tell you: it's a total game changer for me. I will NEVER go back to tampons or pads again. I have a pretty light period except for day 2-3 and I feel like I've been lied to all my life about absorbency. I'm shocked at just how little blood there is during my cycle. Each time I emptied the cup I expected it to be full to the top. It wasn't like that at all. I'd say I barely got the thing a quarter full. Like everyone else has mentioned there is a bit of a learning curve but by day four of my cycle I went a full 12 hours without even thinking about it. I didn't have to remember to bring tampons. I wasn't left feeling uncomfortable when one wasn't inserted correctly but dreading the dry pull out (who amongst us hasn't be there) and I wasn't worried about leaks especially while at the gym. I went to the gym twice, ran outside, and swam in my pool all with NO leaks or discomfort. This cup is amazing. If it's inserted correctly you can't even feel it. Now that I know it won't leak, the next time I get my period I'll go the full12 hours in between changes. When my period first started I was checking on it every 6 because I was nervous. Personally I found the best way to change it was to take OFF my pants and squat in front of the sink and just empty the blood right in the sink rather than carry it from the toilet. Having to only empty it first thing in the morning and before bed is absolutely amazing. It feels like I've hit some sort of period jackpot. I can't believe I didn't know about the cup sooner. If you're on the fence or questioning whether or not you want to make the switch, just do it. You will NOT regret it.

I stalked a social media group about menstrual cups for quite some time before I got the courage to buy one. Best decision ever. I picked the Saalt one based on a quiz the group offered that asked a lot of questions about my cycle, body type, cervix height, etc. I know some women have to try a few types and sizes before getting the right fit, but this worked great for me. I didn't even have to cut the little dongle (some women do if it hangs too low). Been using it for almost 2 years now and won't go back. Not only am I grateful to no longer spend a chunk of my salary on feminine hygiene products every month, but I'm also glad to not be contributing to excess waste. I do live in an environment where access to water and clean toilets is not guaranteed. This has never been an issue with using the menstrual cup for me. In fact, being able to go longer between "changing" my hygiene product has made period so much easier to manage. I no longer have to wake up twice in the night to change a tampon! Definitely talk to others if you're considering a menstrual cup for the first time. There is a learning curve. And the experience is different for all of us. You will also get more knowledgeable about your body and your cycle, in the process, which I consider a plus. Overall, totally worth it.

Before purchasing my Saalt cup, I read up on a few other cups, and if you have read reviews from this cup, many others compare their experience with the Diva cup. This was/is my first and only menstrual cup. I purchased it in March 2020. I wish I would've made the switch sooner. I absolutely LOVE my Saalt cup. I have not had any issues with it. I like to boil it at the beginning and end of my cycle to be safe, and I also purchased the the Saalt brand soap. I have a generally lighter cycle, not crazy heavy, and purchased the size small. I can go most of the day (maybe 9 or 10 hours) on my heavier day before needing to change it. It was a little challenging the first time I used it, just trying to figure out how to insert it. Please don't let that discourage you. By my second cycle, it was super easy. Sometimes I feel a "pop" if the cup doesn't suction right away, which can feel a little uncomfortable, but it's only occasional and for a second. The cup has really good suction - I haven't had any issues with it leaking. It is easy to remove. Honestly, I often forget that it's even in - I have to remind myself. I can't feel it, it's very comfortable. The stem doesn't provide any discomfort. I am very active and play sports, and this cup makes working out on my period possible. As my headline says, this is the best purchase ever. Whenever the topic gets brought up among girlfriends, I am telling them to make the switch. I have no intentions of ever using tampons again.
